I can speak first-hand about the usefulness of the Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket. I've owned one for years and always keep it close by. When planning a hiking trip it is pretty much an auto-include, year round. You'll be ready for chilly nights, frosty days and it's always ready to be your pillow every single night. The Women's Nano Puff is filled with PrimaLoft® ONE synthetic insulation which traps heat, even when wet. The outer shell is lightweight ripstop recycled polyester with Deluge® DWR finish to shed moisture. All of this adds up to a very light 11.1 oz. It stands up to all you can throw at it and will excel as your go-to insulating layer in the winter. This year's model is even better as it has an improved fit through the torso and waist, and an added interior storm flap behind the zipper. Plus it has the classic Nano Puff “brick" quilting pattern that has been making brick houses aesthetically pleasing for years.

This jacket is the most versatile jacket I owe. It is deceptively warm given how compressible it is, and I have used it from fall through winter. It's a bit thin for extended exposure in below freezing weather, but if I'm just running errands in and out of the car, it's perfect. For skiing, I have thrown a Gore-tex shell over it and it sometimes border on being too hot. The BEST part is how slimming and flattering the cut is. I'm petite at 5'1", 107lbs, 32B and the XS fits perfectly, with the back covering most of my behind. I returned the Down Sweater Front Zip because the arms were way too puffy in an unflattering incredible hulk way. This is obviously not an issue with the jacket. I own it in Blue Butterfly and Black - both gorgeous colors, but I must say the black has been incredible for urban wear with a trendy feel to it. I can easily bust it out for a night on the town! The lining for the Blue Butterfly is a light turquoise and just beautiful and fun. LOVE. THIS. JACKET.
I bought this jacket for traveling- I was going to be an array of climates over a few months period and I needed something I could layer, wear casually, and pack up small and shove in my backpack. This jacket was perfect for cooler nights in Panama, layered with a thin long sleeve in South Carolina, and kept me happy with a heavy sweater underneath in Vermont (in January). it's a great layering piece. I did a LOT of research before buying this jacket- and I've basically worn it everyday since I bought it.. and it holds up great. Does a nice job of keeping most of the wind out, and held up nice against a wet snowfall- it kept me drier than I ever would have expected. In pouring rain I'd layer with a rain jacketI am about 5'7'' and 140lbs, and bought medium. It fits great, with room for layers, and is long enough to cover my low back and keep out any wind from coming up
I've been wanting a nano puff for a while, and finally broke down and ordered one. I wear a small in my Patagonia fleece, but this small was a little tight around the shoulders for my liking-- it restricted my range of motion. Sent it back and got a medium in the Glass Blue. Love the color, love the yellow on the inside, and it is surprisingly warm! The medium fits in the shoulders better than the small (I'm 5'5 and a size 4 on top). I plan on using this as a layer under my snowboard jacket, and I think it will be perfect!
I was worried that this jacket would be too lightweight to offer any warmth but thankfully I was wrong! I was nice and toasty wearing this jacket with temps around 30 degrees. I purchased the tomato red color and love it! I normally wear a size Medium and this jacket was roomy enough to layer a hoody or sweater underneath or I could make it look more fitted by simply tightening the drawstrings!
This jacket is exactly what I was looking for, but was even thinner and lighter than I expected. It's comfortable, warm, looks great and packs up into its own pocket. I live in North Florida and haven't taken it anyplace really cold yet, but outside on a 40 degree morning it was all I needed and I'm a wimp about being cold. It will be perfect for traveling because of the pack-ability factor. I love this jacket and don't want to take it off!
first, I got this jacket from an online retailer, not moosejaw :( and paid way too much full price. at moosejaw you can at least earn reward points with your purchases and use them later for discounts, BIG PLUS. but i was in a big hurry and...bla bla bla. Second, this jacket is AWESOME! i usually just stick w my north face denali in this mid america winter, it gets into the 30s usually and that denali keeps me kind of warm...ish. so i decided to step it up and no more freeze fingers for me. this jacket is really thin and at first i thought it would be just like the denali but man! even on those teen degree mornings this thing is toasty! i cant believe it took me so long to buy this thing. for reference, i am 5'5' and 130, but pretty toned but not too much. i got medium and that fits me comfy cause i dont like tight stuff and like to be able to move my arms with a jacket on. buy this coat if your contemplating it. just do it. its alot of money but seriouslya good investment.
