The Patagonia Women's Downtown Loft Parka is a knee length parka for heading out into the cold winter day. The Downtown Loft is insulated with 600 fill power duck down to wrap your body, almost sleeping bag-like, with toasty warmth. The slim fit runs close to the body while the front hem falls to the knee, and the back hem falls slightly below. The high collar protects your neck and the attached hood hides inside a zipper until needed for head protection on the super-cold days. The two-way front zipper allows you to keep zipped up on the ride to work, while the lower half can open as far as needed for comfortable seating. The hand pockets warm your hands or zip shut to secure gloves and an internal pocket protects cash and cards. The winter city streets are now yours to behold.

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. It's cute to think of a fabric as being afraid of water. Now if only they could make a bearphobic coating. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Women's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

• Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.

• Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too long for shorter ladies! Pros: ,,Gray color is a beautiful rich color and I really liked the look of the collar. The shape of the coat is flattering (see comments below on slim fit), which is uncommon with a lot of winter coats that I feel have more of a boxy/unflattering fit.,,,,Cons: ,,I am 5'4" and this coat landed way past my knees - which was too long for me, so I had to return it. I felt like I was wearing a long sleeping bag. Also, I am pear shaped (about 138 lbs) and the medium fit well with a base layer; however, I felt that I would need to size up if I wanted to wear multiple layers or a bulky sweater. It is too bad this coat is not offered in a petite size because scaled down, I think it would have worked well for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best. Coat. Everrrrrrr. After recently moving to Chicago, I knew I was in for a serious reality check when winter hit. Ordered this coat and immediately knew it was worth every bit of what I paid. Super warm, extremely comfortable, and was delivered right on time for moosejaw. Just as a note on the for- it's slim fit. I wear a 6 and the medium fits me perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This coat is completely worth it!!! I recently bought this coat in preparation for another freezing Michigan winter & I'm so glad I did! Loved it from the moment I tried it on in the store...super stylish & non-bulky. I've never liked the way a real deal winter coat looks as much as this one, and it's been keeping me crazy warm! The only part of my body that is cold while wearing this gem is my face and ankles. Buy it! ,,,,Side note: I'm 5'7" and the length of the coat is perfect

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Love it! I've been looking for a very good and warm jacket in the last month. I believed to have bought and returned online and in store at least three-four jackets/parkas. This is simply fantastic! Snugly and warm! I was afraid it was too long for me (I am 5, 105 pounds), but it is perfect, especially because I love longer parkas. I decided for an M after having tried it in a store: because of the slim fit, the S would have been fine with just a base layer, which is not my case because I love wearing flees and sweaters when it is cold. I also own a Metropolis Parka by North Face, and this parka by Patagonia is soooo much better in quality, even if the price is higher. I got the grey color, which is a beautiful one! Highly, highly recommended!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very form fitting This item was ordered as a large but the item fit like a child large. I don't know if I got a child coat but it was very small. Usually wear a medium but even the large didn't fit well. I wanted to layer with this but no way! Even if it were 2 sizes bigger, it didn't look like it would fit.,, Had to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bring on the winter vortex Im ready! This coat is hands down the most comfortable, flattering (for a down jacket thats saying something ha ha ha) and WARMEST purchase I made!! Its going to keep me warm all winter and is a longer length which I love also. You have to have this coat if you need warmth from mother nature !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmth in a Feminine Fit I bought the Downtown Loft Parka to replace my Marmot Montreaux coat that I have had for several years. I'm a Minnesotan who loves frequent long winter walks, so warmth, length, and durability are essential for me. My new Patagonia is similar to my Marmot in important things like warmth and length; however, it is far superior in fit and design. The sleeves are a perfect length (I was pretty much rolling or always pulling up my Marmot sleeves) and the fit is highly flattering. I'm 5'5", around 120 lbs and I ordered an XS (my Marmot is also an XS). Though XS is my regular size, I cannot wear much more than a sweater underneath without the coat feeling too snug. I prefer that, but others may not. If you're not a fitted clothing fan, I would order a size up. Another thing to take into consideration is the coat's lack of a hood. I'm more of a hat person, so again, I prefer the design as is. Lastly, in my experience the Patagonia coat is better quality for the money (I was always having trouble with the zipper on my Marmot). Unless Patagonia creates an even better coat in the future, I'll be ordering another Downtown Loft Parka in a few years when it's time for a new coat. I wish I had upgraded a long time ago!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality, odd fit So the build quality like most patagonia products was top notch. Comfortable, nice stitching, etc. However the fit around the waist was not flattering when the pockets are used to let saw hold gloves. You look like you have a belly or pregnant because it puffs out. Pockets closed or empty, not as noticable. Will be returning, but otherwise love the coat.
