We buy big warm winter jackets because sometimes the weather gets cold and crummy and we still need to function. We have no other option. However, with the Patagonia Women's Downtown Loft Parka you might find yourself looking forward to wintery weather. The 600 fill goose down insulation will shrug off the excessively cold temperatures and the Deluge® DWR (durable water repellent) finished polyester shell will shrug off some wind and rain. The length falls below the knee (dropped hem in back) so with the hood up (which is insulated and zips into the collar) you'll have almost full body coverage. It has a 2-way full-length zipper to give you ample ventilation/style options. So get ready to look forward to winter.... just try to hide your excitement.

I'm so excited about this coat! It has a great slim fit which gives a great shape unlike a lot of long coats and it's super warm! I didn't think I would go for a coat this long, but now that winter is here I'm so happy I did! Runs true to size. I didn't have any problems with the zipper like previous reviewer. I'm pretty sure Patagonia has a lifetime warranty so don't think that should be a problem!
This is a beautiful coat with a slim fit BUT there is a major design defect with the zipper. It is nearly impossible to zip the coat without the zipper getting caught in the inner fabric. Once caught, it is very difficult to remove the fabric from the zipper and eventually the zipper is virtually guaranteed to tear the inner fabric. I have tried, repeatedly, to figure out the "trick" (if there is one) for zipping or unzipping this coat without the zipper getting stuck and it is beyond me! Ridiculous in a coat retails for $379.00!!! The coat is going back to Moosejaw ASAP!
