Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fashionable sleeping bag This coat is amazing! I loved it, and couldn't decide which color to buy; I tried both black and pebble gray. Ended up going with black since I have young kids and didn't want the silver color to get extremely dirty! This coat is extremely warm, and goes all the way to my knees (I'm 5'10" so this is saying something!) Also, it's difficult finding long arm length---but this one is plenty long in the arms! Because it is so long, it has a chic and feminine look besides the warmth factor. It is so comfortable, that I feel like I wrapped myself in a sleeping bag while walking around, without the ugly bulk you could imagine ;) A+ design and I recommend buying!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall Great Parka This is a great coat: warm, good looking, and with good attention to details. I tried the Down With It parka as well as Patagonia's Downtown Down parka, and after much deliberation chose the Down With It. In a perfect world I would've smushed the two coats together into one: they both had features I really liked! The Downtown Down is several inches longer and kept my knees warmer, and it has elastic around the inside of the sleeve cuffs -- nice touches that I wished the Down With It had. But the Down With It looks nicer, fits better, has a way more functional hood (Downtown Down has no adjustable elastic in the hood), and overall felt warmer on snowy walks outside. And since I always wear sweaters and gloves with this coat, I found I didn't miss the cuff elastic as much as I thought I would. Also, I love that Patagonia uses Traceable Down sources. This is a great coat; it's totally worth the money. I look forward to enjoying it for years to come!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving it. Warm, nice shape, and well constructed. I love that the down is not live plucked. Note: I usually wear a women's size 4 and needed a medium in this coat. Buy a size up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this coat! Before buying this coat I did a ton of research and looking into other brands. This one was hands down the best. I love that it isn't big and unflattering like some long down coats out there. Although the price was a little steep, it was definitely worth the price 100%. I know that this coat will last me through college, and I wear it every single day. It keeps me so warm, especially in the below zero temperatures we have in Wisconsin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keep warms me all day I believe in Patagonia quality and this jacket is another worth to purchase. I'm a regular small size person, 5'3", long arms with baby belly, and XS fits great with two layers of t-shirts underneath and still keeps me toasty in freezing New England weather. I was hesitated that there is no wrist guards, but the sleeve covers up the half of my hand pretty stable to hold gloves so not a problem now. Also the fast shipping! I placed the order on Monday night and got the package on Wednesday after noon. Overall, It is a great buy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just ok, looks like a sleeping bag While I knew this coat would have been very warm I was just so-so with the design. There is nothing unique or exciting about it and I really felt it just looked like I was in a sleeping bag. I returned it and went ahead with the Canada Goose Kensington.... very happy....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and form fitting Love this coat. It's super warm. I would recommend going up a size if you are curvy in the hips. I am an 8 and ordered the large and it fits comfy allowing for layers underneath. My other patagonia coats have run small as well. Great coat!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fabric I bought this to find a good winter coat. I love the material it's made of. It's stronger than the Marmot Montreaux Coat. However, I wish that it was warmer and had a fur hood. If Patagonia fixed these features, than this coat would be a winner.

Deciding between a small and a medium- I am 5'4", 125 lbs, small-medium bust (36B or 34C), hippy but athletic, like my clothes form-fitting but not tight, comfortable but never baggy. Recommendation?

Asked by: Kelly
Thanks for the question! I actually own this Parka. It is my winter staple. It runs true to size and has a "Regular Fit". So it's not slim, but not baggy either. You actually could fit in either size comfortably . If you prefer your jackets to be on the looser side you should go for the Medium. Hope this helps!

 Does this jacket leak feathers?

Asked by: PandaNewfie
Thanks for the question! This Parka is actually my Winter staple. It does shed feathers from time to time. Since it has larger baffles, the feathers will shift and leak out naturally. Not enough to cause any concern, tho. I hope this helps a little!

I am 5'5", 127 lbs, 34B, with 38" hips, usually a size 4-6 on top and 6-8 on bottom. I probably would not wear heavy layers under this coat. Which size do you think I should get in this coat?

Asked by: jennifer
Hiya Jennifer, thanks for your question! Based on your description, I would recommend a size Small. Hope this helps!

It's listed as waterproof, but will it withstand a rainstorm? I live in a climate with hours of rain at a time, often quite heavy, so full waterproofing is a must.

Asked by: Birke
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! The Patagonia Down With It Parka is water resistant, not waterproof like a rain jacket. The Durable Water Repellent (DWR) is a coating that prevents moisture from soaking the jacket, but it will have a saturation point, especially if you plan on wearing it in the pouring rain for an extended amount of time. You might want to consider more of a ski jacket with waterproofing capabilities if you're looking to keep dry and warm.
