The Women's Down Sweater Vest by Patagonia is your go-to piece for light weight insulation. Impossible to confuse with the sweater vests found at golf courses and bingo parlors, ours comes packed with ultra-toasty 800-fill down that traps heat in alpine conditions. It has a minimalist design that practically floats, and is so compact it stuffs into its own stretch-mesh internal pocket (with a carabiner clip-in loop). The innovative, superlight 100% all-recycled polyester shell (1.4-oz 22-denier) with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish provides wind and water protection as well as a high tear-strength; quilting stabilizes the down. With zippered handwarmer pockets, a drawcord hem and strategically placed quilting in the torso and neck for a feminine silhouette.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. It's cute to think of a fabric as being afraid of water. Now if only they could make a bearphobic coating. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Women's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

• Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.

• Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Northern Girl's Perfect Solution to No Winter After growing up in Wisconsin, I acquired a massive amount of fabulous winter garments, mostly from moosejaw. Alas, I moved to South Carolina two years ago and most of my stuff is useless here because there is no winter. And then I discovered this vest. Probably the most exciting piece of outwear ever. I DON'T WANT TO TAKE THIS THING OFF. I would sleep in it but my roommates would probably think I'm nuts. So light and warm and lives up to its name "sweater vest" for sure. I've had a puffy North Face vest for years but this one is sleek and easy to stuff in my backpack. And when I move back north I can take it on summer vacations to Lake Superior!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Vest of many seasons! I bought this vest as a jacket-substitute for nice fall days, but I'm using it just as much during these winter months under my ski jacket and long down coat. It keeps me warm no matter how I wear it and it looks good. The only thing is, you have to be careful because the fabric can snag kind of easily and the feathers can begin to poke out (it's not a big deal, you just have to be careful where you go poking around). Also, if you have a long torso, this vest will seem a little short in comparison to North Face vests.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty! Wow this baby is hot! I bought this in black size large. I wear a large or extra large shirt and it fits me perfectly. It is very thin yet keeps me extremely toasty. I have to take it off inside if I'm running around with the kids b.c I get hot. But it is perfect for running around town...going in and out of heated places. I love having my arms free to take care of the kids. I also like that it's a tad bit longer than other vests. I think this is going to be this year's favorite!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I returned the product. I called Patagonia to check on this product because of a review stating that the feathers show through the fabric. I was assured that only one anniversary vest in another color was guilty of that (and it had been done on purpose). WRONG. This vest, if worn in the daylight or under indoor lighting looked as if it had brown spots all over it. ,,,,Other than that, nice fit, light weight, stylish. Could have been great....but it wasn't. Who wants to see the down feathers????

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome vest, but the white fabric is sort of see-through I got this for my wife for her birthday, because she was always wearing mine (the man's version, that is). She loved everything about it, except that the white fabric is pretty see-through. Not all the way through the vest see-through, but see the down feathers see-through. It gives the jacket a very "mottled" look. (That was the word that immediately and independently popped into each of our heads when we first looked at it.) We'll be exchanging the vest for another color.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from light weight and compressible got this in purple... never thought i would but really like the color and it is very wearable. this fits big on me even over a few layers and i wish it was a touch longer. i purchased it as a little some thing to keep the wind off and stay warm on hikes in the spring so far i have only worn it in side after skiing but it has been nice... the great thing is that because its so light u might not know u are wearing it. i am 5'6 125lb and got a small

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slim-fitting, not too puffy, perfect! This was much lighter and less puffy than I was expecting, which was perfect! Great to pair with a long sleeve shirt on a 50-60 degree windy Chicago day. Blocks the wind and keeps you toasty! I'm only 5'0 and the XS is the perfect size/length if you're going for the slim and fitted look. I could see it being annoyingly short if you were a lot taller though. Overall, great buy and Patagonia is worth every penny, as always!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great vest, more fitted than the jacket This vest has a good amount of warmth, but has a slim profile, so you can easily wear a shell/windbreaker on top. The length is a little on the short side, but works for a vest that you wear as part of your layering system (5'7", XS size vest). The internal stuff pockets works very well. I find myself reaching for it every day, and when I need some extra insurance in the mornings while breaking camp.
