"All around, perfect." 05/13/12
I have a really hard time finding shorts I like; most shorts are so short that they scrunch up or are so long that they look like board shorts. These Patagonia shorts are short enough to look cool (hiking or hanging around town) but manage *not* to scrunch up. They dry easily and deflect water/food spills, both don't have that trash-baggy feel to them like a lot of sports clothing. They are, all around, perfect shorts.

These were a bit big so sending back, if they fit, I would not have kept at full price of $59 but maybe for sale price ~ they are thin which is nice for certain times but make kind of a squishy sound when move which I don't like in clothes. Maybe after a few washes they wouldn't but these aren't for me.
"I just bought a second pair!" 07/08/11
I love these shorts! They are my favorite so I needed another pair. I wear them for hiking, traveling, and just hanging out! They don't wrinkle, dry quickly, protect from the sun, and the inseam is the perfect length. They don't ride up when I go hiking, and if you take them camping, you can quickly wash them in the sink and hang them up for an hour and they're ready to go. Get a pair while they're on sale, you won't be disappointed!

These have become my "go-to" shorts! The fit is ultra flattering as is the length. Not too short..and not to long..JUST right! No need to worry about wrinkles or ironing-I simply pull mine from the washer & hang to dry! (which they do in a flash) If only everything in my closet was this perfect!
"Great for Backpacking" 12/05/10
I spent 7 days hiking around New Hampshire in early September with two pairs of these shorts as my only leg-covering. They were perfect for backpacking since they came up just high enough to protect your back from irritation but not so high that they violated the first rule of hiking (a hiker must always look good).
"Perfect Outdoor Shorts" 05/22/10
I bought these shorts and then spent two weeks in Belize and Guatemala. They were perfect and I basically wore them for the whole two weeks without washing them. I know, yicks, but you gotta do what you gotta do and I was surprised when they didn't stink to the high heavens because they breathe well and dry fast. These shorts are light, they don't bunch up or ride up, aren't to short but aren't to long, they fit perfectly, and are all around the perfect outdoor hiking shorts.

I am getting ready to head to Tanzania and wanted some shorts that will be super comfy. These are them! They have a little bit of stretch so you can move around and sit comfortably. One thing though, order one size bigger. I usually wear a 6 and that is slightly loose on me but with these I went with an 8 and they are perfect! They aren't too short and aren't 'mommy' shorts either.
