I've had my share of down jackets. Living in Alaska for 25 years and working in the Arctic 15; you get a sense of what cold can be and what warm needs to be. I migrated south to the Rocky Mountains. My old down jackets seemed a bit too much. First and foremost, quality and durability was a must. Second, it had to regulate the temperature, keep the cold out and the warmth in. Finally, there has to value for the dollars spent. I went through two winters watching, reading, and pricing. This jacket kept showing up in my research. I had purchased one of their rain jackets and was always pleased with the results, whether it was on river fly fishing or looking for metal mouths in the rainy northwest. Finally, I saw a smoking deal on the $$. So, I chatted MJ and asked if they'd put their money where their mouth was, match the price! I sent the link, and sure enough they'd match the deal. Yahoo! Awesome deal. I love this jacket. My best down ever! Highly recommend it and Moose Jaw.
needed a replacement ski jacket. i wanted a warm one with down but also not to look like George Costanza or the Goodyear Tire Man from the down. This one cost two arms and one leg, but it fits the bill. The only heavily insulated/warm jacket i've seen suitable and with quality for the cold slopes but also not bulky. kudos!
I have been in a tropical climate the past 5 years and have recently moved back to Michigan where I have had to readjust to a "slightly" colder climate. I had this jacket in mind when coming back and I have not regretted the purchase a moment since. We are getting hit with a cold winter up here and I just came in from shoveling with a wind chill of -10. I have a t-shirt on and a winter hat and gloves and am as toasty inside as I was outside with this jacket on. I love the feel, as it covers all the essential parts (neck, wrists, waistline) and I have plenty of room inside to move around. Waterproof/Windproof shell with the down lining makes it a triple threat against harsh weather. I can also layer really well inside the jacket. I work in an elementary school and am able to comfortably wear a hoody with a vest without it feeling tight. If you take care of your clothing, the quality and longevity of the jacket far outweighs the price.
The price of this jacket hurt at first but I found that every day I wore it the price started to hurt a little less. Been skiing and snowboarding for 15 years and have never found a jacket anywhere like this one. I live in Jackson Wyoming where it's cold, -30 for about a month. I found this jacket to be warm on cold days and with the pit zips open perfect on normal days. The sleeves are a little longer than normal but this makes it great for gloves. Over all a great jacket.....You won't be disappointed
