The Patagonia Petrolia 28L Pack is a top loading backpack for travel and trail. When the days require your 15" or smaller laptop to come along, the side-access pocket is ready to hold it away from the rest of your gear. When the day is all about completing a 14er before the sun sets, the same side-access sleeve will holster your hydration bladder with ease. Over in the main compartment, stuff in a book for pleasure and a sweater; but easily fits harness and climbing shoes when you're off to the crag for a bit of climbing with friends. Airflow mesh backpanel and shoulder straps are comfortable regardless of what the day brings, just secure the webbing waist belt and sternum strap for security. Stash your rain jacket in the stretch front pocket, an extra water bottle in the side stretch pockets and finish the day with success.

Perfect for committing and weekend tripsExactly the backpack I was looking for. Simple and well designed. Love the padded laptop sleeve (side entry), the bucket style main compartment (keeps everything in), the mesh pocked in front, and the compression straps on the sides to stay streamlined.

Versatile packThis is my daily school bag and I love it! I am able to pack my work folders, Chromebook, water bottle, rain jacket, lunch, change of shoes, and various other odds and ends. (Pretty darned important since I am the teacher and I have to show up.) Even better, this pack has been with me on a few overnighters in the woods. Since it is a top-loader, I was able to fit a hammock, bugnet, straps, fleece, water, snacks, book, headlamp, and toiletry bag inside and I had a little room to spare. The bag

MultifunctionalI've only used this a few times but am pretty satisfied so far. The peach has a good balance of features that make it suitable for commuting, travel, and a day on the trail. Best features include: side zip compartment for a laptop or tablet, large main compartment, large stuff pocket on the front and a pocket and somewhat hydration bladder compatible. So far my only complaint is none of the small organizer pockets are large enough for my iPhone 4s, so it goes in the lid pocket.
