This jacket is great. The 2.5 layer material is very breathable and lightweight. It repels water very well. in the past, some of the jackets that I have had, i receive them and the water does not bead in certain spots. Patagonia did an awesome job with the water repellency on this jacket. The water beads up everywhere. They use Granger's water repellency @ their company, which when I researched them, is an epic company. I am thinking about ordering some for my other jackets. The material feels very durable as well. Btw, the viking blue, is, @ least i think, a somewhat darker royal blue. I love the color. The fit is a tad baggy in the torso, but that is good for layering in cold weather. It works well as a wind-breaker too. The inner lining is also not sticky, so when you sweat you do not feel the material latch onto your skin. Overall, it is a great jacket, great feel, great weight, and I highly recommend it.
I wanted to like this jacket, but the sizing is unlike any other jacket I've experienced. I have fairly long arms, but the Torrentshell's arms are just hilariously long, at all sizes. Even the Small's arms were too long, and I usually wear a Medium.I'm also not thrilled by the color options. Patagonia could very easily make these jackets more exciting by introducing more contrast between the logo on the breast and the main jacket color. North Face seems to have cornered the market on pleasant contrast colors, although they often overdo it. If Patagonia wants to sway North Face customers, they need to beat TNF at their own game.
"Perfect For a Range of Weather Conditions"
This jacket is great for both rain and wind and is very lightweight. I particularly like wearing it over a base layer, so I can ditch my bulky winter jacket for temperatures above freezing, or pack it away later (it doesn't wrinkle much). The armpit zippers are also a huge plus for me to get much-needed ventilation in warmer weather. The zipper pockets are also secure and large.
I got this jacket about three years ago. For a cheaper rain jacket it is extremely versatile. It will keep you dry and block the wind with ease. After weeks of getting repeatedly drenched the material started to get water logged, but just throw it into the wash and dryer and retreat it with some more DWR spray and its good as new!
Not much more to say, this jacket is very light and so far is completely waterproof. I work at a summer camp in Texas year round and Mother Nature decided to pour for a week straight. Working outside all day meant I needed a sturdy rain jacket that would keep me DRY. This definitely did the job. Long enough to sit down and keep my butt dry too. Patagonia means quality.
Love this jacket. I've been out in some pretty nasty weather with it so far and have been completely dry. Pretty good wind resistance as well. The sleeves are a little long but overall, it fits very well. I am 6'1" and a 34 waist and the large fits me great. Also stows away nicely in either of its reversible pockets. The adjustable hood also seems to work very well. Would certainly buy again.
Folds up or rolls up nicely and will keep you dry. It also makes a nice addition to a layer system for windy or cold days. Build up to this as your last layer and depending on what you have underneath you will be warm and certainly dry
So I wasn't sure what size to get. I am tall and skinny (6'3" with a 32" waist). I got a large and it fits fairly well. It's a tad bit long in the sleeves but I'd rather have that than too short. I've used it a few times so far and have some initial impressions:1) This thing is light! It is super light weight and compresses like no other which makes it great for packing!2) For the price this thing does what you need it too. This thing is fantastic for such a low price.3) If you're not that adventurous and just want to look cool this also does the job. Just wearing it around I got a lot of compliments because the colors are fun.Basically if you're thinking about it just buy it. It's worth the money and it's a great product.
