I got this jacket about three years ago. For a cheaper rain jacket it is extremely versatile. It will keep you dry and block the wind with ease. After weeks of getting repeatedly drenched the material started to get water logged, but just throw it into the wash and dryer and retreat it with some more DWR spray and its good as new!
Not much more to say, this jacket is very light and so far is completely waterproof. I work at a summer camp in Texas year round and Mother Nature decided to pour for a week straight. Working outside all day meant I needed a sturdy rain jacket that would keep me DRY. This definitely did the job. Long enough to sit down and keep my butt dry too. Patagonia means quality.
Love this jacket. I've been out in some pretty nasty weather with it so far and have been completely dry. Pretty good wind resistance as well. The sleeves are a little long but overall, it fits very well. I am 6'1" and a 34 waist and the large fits me great. Also stows away nicely in either of its reversible pockets. The adjustable hood also seems to work very well. Would certainly buy again.
Folds up or rolls up nicely and will keep you dry. It also makes a nice addition to a layer system for windy or cold days. Build up to this as your last layer and depending on what you have underneath you will be warm and certainly dry
So I wasn't sure what size to get. I am tall and skinny (6'3" with a 32" waist). I got a large and it fits fairly well. It's a tad bit long in the sleeves but I'd rather have that than too short. I've used it a few times so far and have some initial impressions:1) This thing is light! It is super light weight and compresses like no other which makes it great for packing!2) For the price this thing does what you need it too. This thing is fantastic for such a low price.3) If you're not that adventurous and just want to look cool this also does the job. Just wearing it around I got a lot of compliments because the colors are fun.Basically if you're thinking about it just buy it. It's worth the money and it's a great product.
I have had this jacket for about half a year now. I have had absolutely no problems with it. It packs perfectly into one of the hand pockets, keeps every bit of rain and water out, and the hood is very adjustable. Usually I don't like the hoods on rain jackets since they limit peripheral vision, are noisy, and for the most part too roomy. This one can be adjusted in two spots! I have never gotten too warm in it, since the pit zips help vent a lot of heat when it's hot out. Overall definitely worth the price.
I was looking for a decent priced rain jacket, and this jacket far exceed my expectations. The breathability is great, and the waterproofing is awesome. The jacket fits nice and tight but loose enough to fit a sweat shirt under for the cooler days. Overall, this jacket is amazing and I recommended it to all my friends.
Too be honest I bought this jacket because I love the color (Tidal Teal). I also have an older Marmot Precip. Compared to the Precip, I like the hood design of the the Torrentshell better. When you cinch it down, the nylon around your forehead starts to conform to it, creating some support for the bill. It also doesn't block any peripheral vision. Before buying this I also tried on a rain jacket from Mountain Hardwear that didn't have pit zips. Personally, I prefer them. It's also packable like the Precip so that's nice.
I think this in an incredible rain jacket. I actually ordered this one, as well as a Mountain Hardwear Plasmic and love them both. This jacket fits pretty true to size for me...I'm about 5'11" and 170 lbs, and I like these just a little big to layer underneath. I got it to wear to work and on hikes, etc. I'm not a climber, etc, so I wasn't really concerned with a "technical, slim" fit. Can't wait for it to rain now.
