Moosejaw Staff Pick "The Patagonia R1 Pullover is legit. It's light, comfortable, and still provides good warmth. I use it as a layering piece for the slopes, and also when I need a long sleeve on the golf course, or walking town if there's still just a little chill in the air. I sport the Narwhal Grey, but if you like a little pop there are some serious color options. Be cool, pull it over your head." BR - Moosejaw Secret Headquarters
Moosejaw Staff Pick "The Patagonia R1 Pullover is a staple in my fall and winter layering system. My R1 not only keeps me super warm, it also looks great when I'm off to the bar or some winter camping." Matt - Moosejaw Secret Headquarters
The Men's R1 Pullover by Patagonia. This Patagonia outerwear is lightweight and versatile. The Men’s R1 Pullover is made of warm Regulator R1 grid fleece which is compressible, highly breathable, and moisture-wicking. This men’s outerwear is ideal as a midlayer under a shell Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk

This is by far my most used jacket. Packs down small and lightweight, especially considering how warm it is when worn. Fit is slim enough that I have been able to wear it under my cycling jacket when it gets really cold outside. The reviews weren't lying, this is the best light fleece you can own!
The Patagonia R1 Pullover simply layers the best out of everything I've tried. It is thin, hugs the body comfortably, slips easily under a softshell jacket, and offers great mobility. Plus it's breathable and warm. Other fleeces may be warm but they lack the layering comfort of the R1 and their thickness doesn't inspire confidence during active pursuits. For someone looking for a more technical midlayer or even an outer layer in fair weather, and something that doesn't feel inhibiting when moving around a lot, I recommend the Patagonia R1. Well worth the price for an active outdoorsperson.
This is my second R1. I prefer this older style R1 so I ordered it from Moosejaw. These are great for layering on a cold day of for staying warm on a chilly fall day. The order shipped quickly and it was exactly as expected.
This is my go to pull over when it gets cold outside. I will wear this jacket throughout the whole year. Im in love with these so much I own one in black and green and am seriously thinking about getting another one in dark green! If you buy this you will be in love!!!
Great baselayer/light fleece. Don't expect to be windproof, don't expect to handle lower than 40 degrees without a jacket. But for a light, breathable, active fleece this thing is tops. Sized a little tighter than true, judge how you'll be using it before deciding on a size. The hoody version fits a little snugger to the body if you're considering use as a baselayer.Buy one (or four!) when they go on sale.
I ordered a mens small, didn't want to order womens because I didn't want something super fitted & thought the mens would be more comfortable. I got the dark blue, very pretty color. Would buy again in more colors.
This pullover is perfect for cool weather. Obviously it will not keep you warm when temps plunge, but I am comfortable down to about sixty degrees F with this on top of a shirt. I really like the chest pocket feature; sometimes I put candy in there to eat throughout the day. Recently, I have started to wear this while biking when temps are a little too cold for short sleeves yet too warm for a long sleeved shirt. The deep zip allows for great ventilation. Additionally, the synthetic face fabric does not pick up lint like many of the other fleece pullovers I own.
The R1 is lightweight, warm, and comfortable. It fits nicely and the sleeve length is ample. I notice a remarkable difference in warmth when worn underneath my non-insulated jacket, a difference that one wouldn't think to be so drastic with such a light layer. I wouldn't mind a bit more length in the torso, and a slightly tighter fit, but the existing dimensions are nothing to complain about. I'm 6' 0", 175 lbs., and the medium fits quite nicely and remains unnoticed beneath a heavier outer layer. The typical Patagonia quality is evident, and I like the fact that they offer a number of natural colors to choose from.
Fantastic clothing item. With a synthetic t-shirt, the R1 (this thing) and a wind shell, I am comfortable walking around to about 20-30F. If I am hiking, I will use this when we stop. Just on its own it does little for wind. However, combine with a windbreaker/raincoat and you will be cooking. Found few items that surpass this for weight and heat as a layer.
