The Men's R1 Pullover by Patagonia. This Patagonia outerwear is lightweight and versatile. The Men’s R1 Pullover is made of warm Regulator R1 grid fleece which is compressible, highly breathable, and moisture-wicking. This men’s outerwear is ideal as a midlayer under a shell Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk

FEATURES of the Patagonia Men's R1 Pullover

  • Versatile R1 fleece, with its high/low grid pattern, provides excellent stretch, warmth, fast wicking and great breathability in a variety of temperatures
  • A lighter weight, micro-grid fabric on inner collar, underarm gusset and Variable Conditions Cuff improves breathability and dry times where you need it most
  • Refined technical fit with offset seams for comfort under outerwear and packs
  • Center-front Slim Zip with soft, kissing-welt zipper garage and chin flap for next-to-skin comfort
  • Variable Conditions Cuff has discreet, on-seam thumb loops for added coverage; a spiral-stitch construction allows sleeves to push up easily without constricting forearms
  • One left chest pocket has Slim Zip install and clean finished zipper garage

Men's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

FORMFITTING
• Conforms to the body's contours.

SLIM FIT
• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

REGULAR FIT
• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

RELAXED FIT
• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice fleece. The R1 is lightweight, warm, and comfortable. It fits nicely and the sleeve length is ample. I notice a remarkable difference in warmth when worn underneath my non-insulated jacket, a difference that one wouldn't think to be so drastic with such a light layer. I wouldn't mind a bit more length in the torso, and a slightly tighter fit, but the existing dimensions are nothing to complain about. I'm 6' 0", 175 lbs., and the medium fits quite nicely and remains unnoticed beneath a heavier outer layer. The typical Patagonia quality is evident, and I like the fact that they offer a number of natural colors to choose from.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Versatile Worn this product in temps ranging from 38 to 65 degrees this fall. In 65 degree weather I was stationary, and was comfortable unzipped. At 38 degrees I had it zipped all the way up and not doing anything very aerobic. Still comfortable, until the wind kicked up. If I had been doing anything aerobic at 38 degrees, it would have been more than sufficient with a wicking T-shirt underneath. Without the wind, this thing would have probably taken me down to freezing. Add my R2 vest for another 10 deg.,,This pullover is uber-comfortable, and quite eye-catching in lt gheko green. Also appears to be top quality, not a single loose thread anywhere. Sizing guide was right on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite fleece, almost as good as my old one I got this to replace my old R1 pullover from about 4 years ago that I lost. The R1 is one of my favorite pieces. I use it as a layer under my shell on the mountain, but I also use it nearly every chilly day around town or just around the house. It's super comfortable, and has a great fit. I am 6'1" 180, and I got a large. The only qualm I have with this year's model is that they have done away with the tapered cuffs. On this one they hang down on my hands a little bit. In the grand scheme of things, though, that is really a miniscule complaint, and I am very happy with my new R1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this jacket for your midlayer. This jacket is outstanding. First off the material itself is corrugated on the inside, to truly allow for unmatched breathing and wicking properties. This has been unlike every other fleece I've spent money on, which are less warm and do NOT breathe well at all. This jacket is epic, but I do have a few minor complaints, if you are tall and have lanky arms or torse, size up an extra large. The large fits but is slightly short on the torso, not bad for layer bulk though. Also, a pair of hand warmer pockets would have been nice, but you can ALMOST HAVE IT ALL WITH THIS JACKET

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ideal pullover This pullover is perfect for cool weather. Obviously it will not keep you warm when temps plunge, but I am comfortable down to about sixty degrees F with this on top of a shirt. I really like the chest pocket feature; sometimes I put candy in there to eat throughout the day. Recently, I have started to wear this while biking when temps are a little too cold for short sleeves yet too warm for a long sleeved shirt. The deep zip allows for great ventilation. Additionally, the synthetic face fabric does not pick up lint like many of the other fleece pullovers I own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best technical fleece There are lots of fleeces out there and I am ecstatically pleased with my decision to purchase the the R1. Patagonia was and is a fleece pioneer and the R1 is a benchmark. It's thin, warm and breathable - ideal as a midlayer if you like to layer but wearable as an outer in milder weather, and particularly comfortable if you want the freedom to move with dexterity. I've found other fleeces to be either too thick (making layering difficult, causing overheating, and feeling like I'm wearing a fat suit) or a sub-par copy of the R1's grid fleece technology. Plus, I like Patagonia's devotion to quality and the environment, and the price is roughly equivalent to others. From now on the R1 will be a staple of my outdoor getup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why are you looking at reviews? Just buy this already! Looking at reviews because you are on the fence? Look no further. This is the mid-weight fleece for you. Buy it. This fleece is lightweight, warm and breathable. For fit, I'm a tall drink of water at 6'2, a slender 140lbs after a nice #2 and have a pterodactyl wingspan: the medium is perfect. Seriously, perfect. My only complaint is the tall collar, which looks a bit funky unless you are totally zipped up. Overall, a great warm layer with amazing fit, functionality and Paty quality. Perfect for the slopes, rock walls and hiking through the wilderness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best fleece ever! Love the R1 pullover - best fleece ever! I usually wear it as a midlayer over one or even two capilene baselayers and under my shell (I run pretty cold). I'm 5'10" 135 lbs, and while I always take a small in Patagonia baselayers, I definitely needed a medium in the R1. Bought my first R1 nearly 18 months ago and despite a lot of use it still looks almost like new. Had to buy another recently as the red one I have didn't go with my new orange ski pants. Went for "Lotus Green" this time. My wife says I have no color sense. She's probably right.
