The Patagonia Men's Torrentshell Plus Jacket is a rain jacket for backpacking mile after mile in the downpour. The H2No® Performance Standard, 2.5 layer nylon ripstop shell you love provides waterproof/breathable protection and then adds the Plus to the Torrentshell name by reinforcing the shoulder and side panels. That's right, it creates a backpacker's dream, so your pack straps and hipbelt won't tear their way through your rain jacket. Stay dry for your long mileage days and even block the wind on cool days. The hood stows when not in use and pit zips open wide when the rain is pouring but your body heat is high. When the sun finally peaks through the clouds and the sky turns clear blue, stow the whole jacket in it's very own hand pocket and clip it to your pack for later.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Rain/Wind Jacket This is an all around great jacket. I use mine for hiking/backpacking and I use it casually. The reinforced sections are great when you are carrying a heavy pack, and it packs up pretty well. I am 5'7" 150 lbs and got a small. It isn't very form fitting at first, but there are plenty of adjustments to make it fit perfectly. My fleece also fits under perfectly for colder days, and it doesn't look or feel bulky. The hood doesn't restrict your vision at all, which was a pretty big consideration for me when I was buying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent - keeps you dry, fully stops wind, not too hot, looks great I wore this backpacking for 5 days on the Ka'u coast (south of Kilauea on the Big Island of Hawai'i.) ,,,,Day one, I wore it for the rain and mists as we came down the 2500-foot descent off the Hilina Pali; it kept me dry and with the zips open didn't turn into a sweat bath. After that, it mostly stayed in my pack in the sunny, clear, and hot days, but I had it out again several mornings for 5am meditation; it fully blocked the cool winds off the ocean in 30 knot gusts.,,,,Tip: To start the magic trick of packing it into its own side pocket, first turn the pocket inside out and then start stuffing - it ends up in a rectangle with the zipper outside so you can zip it closed, and a little loop to clip it to your pack or belt. ,,,,To sum up, it was almost perfectly what I wanted. It completely stops wind and reasonable rains, tough enough to wear under a 40 pound pack, so light I never thought twice about its weight or bulk, and not too sweaty making. Good deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Laugh at other people getting wet in the rain while you wear this. This coat is great! Works as promised, stops wind and rain. The back is designed to let you wear it fitted but won't restrict movement or get tight in the shoulders. I comfortably wear a northface fleece under it and don't feel bulky.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great in all scenarios I really enjoy having this jacket. I am 5'9", 140 and the small fits well. It is with me when I go to class, work and camp/climb trips, thanks to the packability. It seems to hold up to the rigors of everyday life as well as my weekend and summer adventures in the mountains. One thing that does get on my nerves is the zipper: not so much the front storm zipper but the pit zips are sometimes tough to open/close. But I have yet to find a waterproof zipper that is fluid so that is to be expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only my Arc'tyrex jacket costing over $400 more is better Why? It's longer, more abrasion resistant, and has a better hood for a helmet. I especially like a few inches longer, but that's me. Other than that, this is my go-to jacket for stuff other than climbing or serious trips. It'll keep you dry. This is a shell. It's good in warm weather or for layering in cold weather. Buy it and you'll be happy if you don't climb. Lot's of Benjamins happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Shell Layer I bought this as a versatile waterproof shell. I live in the U.P. and so far this is absolutely perfect for anything I go outside to do. It's stupidly great in the rain, I can't wait to get the snow pants version of this material, it's perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stay Dry With The Torrentshell Plus Well made as you would expect from Patagonia. Stops wind and rain. I mean in a strong gale or hurricane what can you do? Kept me dry in some heavy rain while I hustled to shelter.
