"lightweight, warm, and windproof like a wall!"
Another fantastic Patagonia product! This jacket is super light, allows fluid movement and is very packable. It keeps the wind out and its water resistance holds out water quite well in light rain. I wouldn't wear it all day in a soaker but it did me well this past winter on some snowy hikes. The pockets above the belt line is a great feature if you plan on using this piece with a pack. No wind in my jacket during hurricane Sandy and its very warm. Its durable enough for the trail, on a bike and around town. Did I mention it was light?
"Insulated, windproof, water resistant, and made by Patagonia! What more can anyone ask for?!"
This is the perfect jacket! It combines the essentials of being insulated and windproof all in lightweight compressible jacket. As necessary with a windproof jacket, there is a cinch cord on the waistline to ensure that wind does not blow into the jacket. I could not be happier with the fit. I am an athletic build (6 ft 195lb) and either wear a L or XL for Patagonia. I chose to get with the L because I don't like things to be baggy. The XL fit great through the shoulders, but was very boxy through the torso. The jacket fits great layered with a lightweight thermal or t-shirt and my R1 pullover. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and highly recommend this jacket to anyone.
I work outside and I was looking for something warm, comfortable and professional looking. After some research I decided on this jacket because of the gore-tex windstopper combined with the primaloft insulation. This jacket has me feeling good down to the 30's and is waterproof too. I was so pleased with this jacket that I stuck with patagonia for a mid layer and purchased a r2 fleece. Between the two of them I feel like I'm ready for a winter of being outside.
This is a great jacket. It is windproof, highly water-resistant (though not thoroughly waterproof), lightly insulated, and lightweight. I don't think it's meant to be a hiking jacket (though one could use it for that). For me it functions as a jacket I can wear while walking outside or doing errands in anything but a downpour or temperatures below 20 degrees fahrenheit. I'm not saying I'd stand at a bus-stop for 45 minutes in 20 degree weather; but I can easily run errands and walk for some time outside in such temperatures. The insulation is thin and light but with the windproof shell it is very warm indeed. It is more conservatively styled but to me that makes it more dressy.
