Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredibly soft and warm This fleece is probably the softest thing I own. The high-loft exterior just makes you want to rub it. My R4 never fails to warm me up. I can wear it by itself or as part of a layering system. Like all Patigonia products, it is well made, and I have no real complaints about this piece other than the fit. Compared with the other Patigonia products I own, I feel that this jacket runs a bit big. I bought a medium (5'11" 130) because all of my other Patigonia things are meduims, but this one feels a little larger, especially at the waist. This jacket does not have a hip-synch cord by the way, so make sure your size will fit before you buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a jacket... May be one the lightest / warmest jackets I have ever worn. I don't know if a chart exists that can measure the weight of a jacket in relation to its warmth but this would top that list. If you find yourself wondering...should I really pony up and get the R4? Why not an R3 or R2? Just remember its very easy to simply undo the the pockets and allow air into the jacket. The windproof layer is the real life saver in this jacket. Yesterday for example I was out at a college football game and the jacket was a trooper. Did not get cold once...thanks Moosejaw for offering such a bad a$$ jacket for such a great price. I love you and the jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite winter jacket! And sexy to boot. This thing is BA and a half. Lightweight, super soft, windproof, and totally sexy.... what more can you ask for?? Patagonia's sizing is a little funny, I usually wear a medium but took a chance and bought a small and fits perfectly. Im 5ft 8in and weigh 140. This is a slim fitting jacket so it looks stylish if you like the athletic cut and also makes for nice layering as it will slip under about any shell out outer layer you prefer. I have worn this jacket down to about 32 by itself with the wind blowing and was surprisingly warm for how thin this jacket is. Patagonia says its the warmest of the regulator series and Im a firm believer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super soft fleece, not so great wind protection I bought this jacket and the Moosejaw Joshua Beatty Fleece (MJBF) as they seemed similar. I wore this jacket out today on a stroll to the dry cleaner. It was another windy Chicago winter day: 35 degrees and sunny. I found the wind getting through the fleece and found myself slightly chilled. The upside to the R4 is it has an incredibly soft, brushed fleece exterior and an equally super soft plush, brushed fleece interior. I find myself keeping this jacket on even after I came in because the fit is just right, the fleece is so soft, and it is just extremely comfortable. Save this jacket for those slightly warmer winter/spring days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Softest. Jacket. Evah! I bought this for myself...although I am a chick, because as much as I enjoy being a girl, I didn't need a closet full of hot pink fleeces, so being a bigger lass (5'9" and a 12), I got a men's small, which fits comfortably--not too snug, not too big. It is very warm and soft. Great for layering--combine this bad boy with a solid base layer and under my North Face triclimate and it makes for one toasty combo. It is light and fairly windproof. I'm generally very cheap, but this fleece is well worth the money...there is a reason that fleece at Target is cheap; because it is. You won't be disappointed with the exceptional hand and overall quality of this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Impressive This jacket is very impressive, especially for being a fleece jacket. This jacket doesn't confrom to any of the fleece's stereotypical problems. The 3 layer system is extremely warm and comfortable. I wore this jacket yesterday and couldn't believe the warmth in about 33 degree weather. I also have a TNF Denali wind pro and that was great but i often found that the sleeves weren't windproof in medium to high winds. I haven't had any similar problems with this jacket as of yet. The high loft, windproof laminate, and R2 grid is an excellent system that retains warmth while preventing wind penetration by the use of Polartec Windbloc technology. I highly recommend this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from its like wearing a cloud this thing is awesome. i had to hold out til it was on sale, it was a tough wait but well worth it. i have an older MH wind proof fleece that has no give whatsoever. the r4, on the other hand, is super stretchy. the inside is unbelievably soft and comfortable even / especially when wearing short-sleeves underneath - another thing the MH jacket missed big on. ,,,,the only downside i can find is that you cant sinch the bottom as it lacks any elastic cords to pull (theres one in there but its a bit looser than i would want on a really cold windy day) and when you have you hands in the pocket some wind can sneak in since there is a break in the windproof fabric to let your hands in

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't ask for more! Patagonia's products rival the best. If you're in the market for a trendy looking fleece that stands up to moments stuck in the nastiest North Dakota winters (lugging your hockey bag from the far end of the parking lot to the rink, or making that long trek from your apartment to class because you're way too wolverine to rely on someone to drive you there) this is your jacket. It's wind proof, very cozy and warm, and chicks can't resist snuggling into it.,,,,Reading past reviews, I've been warned not to get it too wet, and not to wash it yourself- take it to the dry cleaners. I can't attest to either, but I guarantee I'll debate it when I find myself in either of those dire situations.
