The Men's R4 Jacket by Patagonia. This Patagonia jacket is windproof, superwarm and stretchy. The Men’s R4 Jacket is made from Patagonia’s warmest Regulator R4 fleece, its exterior has a high-loft face windproof fabric with full stretch, and the R2 grid interior provides superior warmth and moisture management.. This men’s outerwear has sonic-welded seam construction with reinforced stitch (patent pending) which reduces seam bulk on center front zippers and pockets. This fleece jacket is about million times more fun than trying to fold a fitted sheet.

"its like wearing a cloud" 02/29/12
this thing is awesome. i had to hold out til it was on sale, it was a tough wait but well worth it. i have an older MH wind proof fleece that has no give whatsoever. the r4, on the other hand, is super stretchy. the inside is unbelievably soft and comfortable even / especially when wearing short-sleeves underneath - another thing the MH jacket missed big on. the only downside i can find is that you cant sinch the bottom as it lacks any elastic cords to pull (theres one in there but its a bit looser than i would want on a really cold windy day) and when you have you hands in the pocket some wind can sneak in since there is a break in the windproof fabric to let your hands in

"Super soft fleece, not so great wind protection" 02/27/12
I bought this jacket and the Moosejaw Joshua Beatty Fleece (MJBF) as they seemed similar. I wore this jacket out today on a stroll to the dry cleaner. It was another windy Chicago winter day: 35 degrees and sunny. I found the wind getting through the fleece and found myself slightly chilled. The upside to the R4 is it has an incredibly soft, brushed fleece exterior and an equally super soft plush, brushed fleece interior. I find myself keeping this jacket on even after I came in because the fit is just right, the fleece is so soft, and it is just extremely comfortable. Save this jacket for those slightly warmer winter/spring days.
"best fleece on the planet" 01/25/12
i've had the r4 fleece for like 5 years now, and its always been amazing, really the greatest fleece jacket there is, and this new version that i just got is even better. Just super soft exterior and interior. Really warm, great for temperatures down to 15 F with a heavy layer underneath, and yet breathable so you don't sweat. To top it off, the pockets act as hand warmers; this has to be my favorite patagonia jacket, really well done, also fits great, true to size. Bottom line, get it.
"very warm and windproof" 01/25/12
This is an awesome jacket. Side and pit zips are great for total venting while keeping snow rain off. Hood is great protection, easy on/off when conditions change. I have a light color and it washes up nice after a weekend of close encounters with tree branches and dirt. Am somewhat concerned about durability when getting brushed up against and caught on tree branches. But so far no rips or snags.

This jacket is very impressive, especially for being a fleece jacket. This jacket doesn't confrom to any of the fleece's stereotypical problems. The 3 layer system is extremely warm and comfortable. I wore this jacket yesterday and couldn't believe the warmth in about 33 degree weather. I also have a TNF Denali wind pro and that was great but i often found that the sleeves weren't windproof in medium to high winds. I haven't had any similar problems with this jacket as of yet. The high loft, windproof laminate, and R2 grid is an excellent system that retains warmth while preventing wind penetration by the use of Polartec Windbloc technology. I highly recommend this jacket.

"About as good as a fleece gets" 01/17/12
my only complaint is the jacket rides kind of funny accross the bottom front...kink of goes up in the middle and is lower on the hips. The jacket is warm but not going to save your ass if it is blowing or below freezing.
"Awesome and Warm" 01/12/12
I bought this to step up from the R3. This R4 jacket is completely windproof and doesn't get wet easily. I am in between a medium and a large at 5'8" 180. The medium is the proper length for someone my height but if you have a lot of muscle bulk you will want the large. I use this jacket fishing in the winter with a mid-weight layer and do not get cold. I would definitely recommend this jacket if you are looking for a good looking and technical jacket.

I live in Germany and this is fest season. Every weekend, rain or shine we are outdoors in 30 degree to 45 degree rainy/snowy slush. This jackets works great. Is it going to be amazing in a downpour? No. Is it amazing in a steady drizzle with temps in the mid to upper 30s? Yes. I wear it with a single base layer, hat, gloves and that's it. The minute I put a layer over the top, I was hot. I paid a ton for this fleece and I would do it again. It's stylish, warm and fits true to size. Buy this fleece, treat it with care and you may have it longer than your wife!!!!
