"Great jacket, but...."  04/13/12

In a nutshell: This is a very warm jacket that feels good to wear. I've owned the R3 for about 7 months now and it's gone on almost every adventure I have had. I've had a lot of use from this jacket, and gotten many compliments. Not to mention all the girls LOVE to pet it's furry fleece exterior. It's a better chick magnet than me! My only complaint is that after seven months of regular use/abuse it has lost much of it's loft and stretched out in the arms and back panel (from my daypack) despite semi-regular cleanings. After sitting in a desk chair, and wearing a backpack between classes, the back panel of my R3 is paper thin.

"Warm and Stylish"  03/09/12

I bought this jacket for a top layer for hiking and climbing. It hasn't been that cold in Michigan this winter so I have been using it a lot as my jacket for hiking. With a base layer and a fleece, I have been using it comfortably to 15 degrees. Hasn't been much colder for the past couple of weeks so I haven't seen how low it will go. I wore it to the store the other day and was stopped and told it looked like a nice jacket. Highly recommend it.

"Warm in calm conditions but use as a midlayer"  03/03/12

R3 highloft is warm to say the least! I use this jacket as my mid layer for alpine climbing. I prefer to wear a windbreaker over it when the wind is up and its below 30 degrees out, but otherwise I wear this jacket right over a fleece and I am warm and toasty in calm conditons as far down as 20. I would definatly recomend this product but be careful your friends might nickname it the bathmat like mine did! Bottom line, great jacket for mid layer and for climbing! I highly recomend this!

"I LIVE in this thing!"  01/31/12

This jacket is luxurious in every sense of the word. It is wicked warm, super stylish, and dang durable. I am 5'10", 150 lbs with and athletic build and the Medium fit me perfectly. Truth be told I haven't worn another jacket since I bought it. It works fine by itself in temps down to 40, but doesn't block wind so you will need a shell if it is windy or colder than 40. As with all Patagonia products, it is well built and eco-friendly. WARNING: If you get it in blue, like I did, be prepared for people mistaking you for Cookie Monster or Grover.

"Lasting warmth that also breathes"  11/11/11

I have owned this jacket for just over a month now and it is definitely my go-to jacket. So far it has seen 40 degrees in Chicago's windy city and has kept me warm. Definitely lets wind through in those conditions, but I have never felt cold when only wearing a t-shirt underneath. I am 5'10 and about 180 and ordered a large, which seems to fit an athletic build nicely. I would highly recommend this product.

"Most comfortable jacket I have ever owned"  11/04/11

This is by far the best fleece I have ever owned. It is a lot lighter but even warmer than the north face and mountain hardwear fleeces I have owned previous to this jacket. It is also great when you do get a little too warm you can just unzip it and it becomes a perfect light weight fleece. I have also worn it under my Patagonia Torrentshell rain coat to make a perfect combination of warmth and waterproof. Everything about this jacket is great, from the materials to the cut. I am 6 foot about 175 pounds and the medium fits me perfectly. Would recommend this jacket to anyone.

"Giant Heck Yes"  07/29/11

This fleece is the most awesome thing to hit my skin since Hi Karate aftershave from the 70s ! Warm as all get out and when I put it on it felt like getting a hug from a giant teddy bear (not to be mistaken for a giant grizzly bear). Well worth the cost, hope to own this until I am old enough to smell like moth balls.

"Warm and Soft!!!!"  01/12/11

I love this jacket,,,, it's super warm, and oh so soft. the R3 fits under anything because it low bulk and can fold down and squeeze in any pack. like any Patagonia item it's all around high quality from the fabric to the zippers.... a must have for cold weather, i live in this jacket!!

"Light weight, soft, and free motion."  11/10/10

I had a North Face Denali. Great to ware without a shell in less windy days. But when use under a shell it feels stuffed and rigid. This R3 feels great to wear under a shell. It feels like nothing. Free motion, and much lighter too.The fit is one the slim side. If you plan to wear it a lot as a outer jacket(like a lot of people wear the North Face Denali) order a +1 size.
