The Patagonia Men’s R1 Full-Zip Jacket is a lightweight fleece jacket for being active in multiple seasons. The R1 Full Zip fills in as a fantastic little warm-me-up during late spring and early fall, or even chilly summers. During winter, the R1 is a great mid-layer. Unzip the R1 and inside you’ll see the fleece has a grid pattern, which provides lots of stretch for ease of movement, warmth, as well as wicks away sweat pretty darn quick. Thumb-holes on the sleeves are on the seam, so if you’re not into them, they hide-away pretty easily. Hand pockets zipper closed to keep items secure, and are located higher up, so they’re pack- and harness-compatible. Packs easily into your bag for use when you need it, so you can hit the trail and not worry about getting chilly.

Slim-fitting, Warm layer goes well with outdoor running!I purchased this light-weight, slim-fitting jacket to use as a layer when running in Chicago. I'm 5'11" and 135 lbs and a Medium fits slightly loose, but very nicely. This jacket has thicker vertical ribbing on the inside of the material, while the Capeline models have square grids. This ribbed pattern seems to trap in more heat. I'd compare warmth for the R1 > Cap 2 and have R1 = Cap 3. ,,,,Pros: "Iron Clad warranty". Machine washable, line dry. Form fitting and very comfortable.,,,,Cons: Cost. It's a thin sweatshirt so don't expect it have that typical "loose" loose common in sweatshirts. This one is more for layering. ,,,,Bottom Line: When layering this sweatshirt can easily fit under a shell, different sweatshirt, or jacket. It's backed by the industry's best warranty. If you can get passed the price, this garment is great outdoor activities where you need a thin, form-fitting layer.

Just OKI want to love this jacket, but I only ever like it. I still wear it everyday.,,,,It gives up warmth easily in the elbows and shoulders in the slightest winds. The collar sits awkwardly high, so when fully zipped it crumples up under your chin and when partially zipped, never seems to sit just right when it's open. The collars like to curl and flip out like some whimsical Wes Anderson or Vincent Price get-up.,,,,It's not the warmest piece either, if you are looking for a around town jacket, the R2 is a bit heavier. Price per warmth, the R1 just doesn't fit the bill.,,,,The middle section also likes to pop up around my stomach. I'm constantly pulling it down to make it fit slimmer.,,,,I do like the length, it sits well under a harness... The thumb-holes are great as well. I loved the 1/2 Zip Pullover version of the R1 but decided on a Full Zip because I wear it at work a lot and don't want to take it off and on all day and mess up my hair. Have you seen this hair? Seriously. It's fab.
