The Patagonia Men’s R1 Full-Zip Jacket is a natural evolution from their hugely popular R1 Pullover. At 12.7 ounces, the Patagonia R1 Full-Zip Jacket makes a great stand alone jacket in cool temps and the microfiber face makes it a perfect layering piece when you start seeing your own breath. Patagonia teamed up with Polartec to make the high/low grid pattered Polartec Power Dry fleece more breathable and more compressible than ever before. A small amount of spandex gives this 41% recycled Patagonia men’s fleece jacket some stretch to make reaching for the next hold or hailing a cab a little easier. The offset shoulder seams make carrying a pack super cush, and the two zippered handwarmer pockets steer clear of the harness line, making the Patagonia R1 an extremely versatile piece. You’ll see this Patagonia men’s fleece jacket hiking in the woods, resting apres style in a ski lodge and strolling through the city on a brisk fall day.

"My Favorite Jacket(s)" 03/20/12
I bought one of these for a trip to Burlington, and ended up not taking it off the entire trip (except to shower). Great in a variety of weather, also layers very well. I loved it so much I bought a second, and now get to decide which color to wear. Looks great over dress clothes or just jeans or shorts. Probably the best pieces of clothing I own.
"Buy this" 02/28/12
I waited two years to research and ask questions about this jacket. Now, when I'm not wearing my R1, I want to kick my own ass for waiting. This is sleepwear comfort on the trail. This has become my Linus security coat. This thing breathes and wicks away moisture at an amazing rate. I found it cool and not warm at first, but throw it on under a layer and it's toasty warm. Now that I have had it for several weeks, I am now using it in cooler situations (40+). I had many doubts. I bought this Jacket. I have no regrets. If you are active, you will worship this jacket. If you want to stay home, you will not be disappointed. If you do not own this jacket, you could be more comfortable right now.
"Great layering piece!" 02/23/12
I really love this jacket, as it is very light, but quite warm, and more importantly, very breathable. It is a go-anywhere type of companion that can easily be vented, or popped on/off as the conditions demand thanks to the full-zip. The close-fitting neck section is very nice when used as a layer in winter conditions to help seal in the warmth. I am 5'11" 160#, and the medium is a very nice, close fit.
"Lightweight, super warm, great for outdoors and hospital." 02/15/12
I bought this for my boyfriend who is a resident. Recently, the hospital only allows non-pilling fleece to be worn, and it can get pretty cold in the building. The jacket looks professional while walking around the hallways, is very lightweight, and he's received compliments wearing it by the other hospital staff. He also wears it outdoors and biking (he has biked across the country), and tells me a month later how much he loves it. He wears it all the time, even when he isn't at the hospital. I bought him a size small, and it fits him perfectly (and was so surprised how well it fits him). If you wear a size small and sometimes medium, I would buy a size medium instead of a small.
"Nice Layering Jacket" 01/12/12
This R1 jacket makes a very nice light layering piece. It runs very slim, if you have a large amount of muscle you definitely want to buy the next size up and even then it will still feel very slim but you wont look like your wearing a compression jacket. The R1 jacket is also very nice looking.
"Great warmth for lightweight jacket" 12/20/11
This jacket is surprisingly warm - I bought it as layer or spring/fall jacket, but I find myself wearing it in colder temps. The thin fit makes me feel like I'm in shape, which I'm not, so thank you Patagonia...
"Great fell and comfortable" 07/08/11
"Seriously, has there been a more perfectly designed and executed piece of clothing than the R 1? I've got two of them. One is about 5 years old. It is ratty and threadbare and beloved. My wife ordered a new one for me, so I'd look more presentable in the winter, spring and fall (or as I call it Patagonia R 1 season). Don't tell my original, but I love the new one too. Even though I feel a tad guilty for cheating on it with the newest R 1."
"I love this jacket! Buy it today." 06/21/11
I’ve had this jacket for about a year. It is the go to piece of clothing when packing for a camping trip. I wear it in summer on cool nights on the water, and as an extra layer when hitting the slopes. It packs small and is light weight. I have even worn it sleeping when camping in Feb. The collar zips up close and covers neck very well. I really like the pockets – big enough for the extra gear I seem to collect.
