The Patagonia Men’s R1 Full-Zip Jacket is a natural evolution from their hugely popular R1 Pullover. At 12.7 ounces, the Patagonia R1 Full-Zip Jacket makes a great stand alone jacket in cool temps and the microfiber face makes it a perfect layering piece when you start seeing your own breath. Patagonia teamed up with Polartec to make the high/low grid pattered Polartec Power Dry fleece more breathable and more compressible than ever before. A small amount of spandex gives this 41% recycled Patagonia men’s fleece jacket some stretch to make reaching for the next hold or hailing a cab a little easier. The offset shoulder seams make carrying a pack super cush, and the two zippered handwarmer pockets steer clear of the harness line, making the Patagonia R1 an extremely versatile piece. You’ll see this Patagonia men’s fleece jacket hiking in the woods, resting apres style in a ski lodge and strolling through the city on a brisk fall day.

FEATURES of the Patagonia Men's R1 Full-Zip Jacket

  • Versatile R1 fleece, with its high/low grid pattern, provides excellent stretch, warmth, fast wicking and great breathability in a variety of temperatures
  • A lighter weight, micro-grid fabric on inner collar, underarm gusset, and Variable Conditions Cuff improves breathability and dry times where you need it most
  • Refined technical fit with offset seams for comfort under outerwear and packs
  • Center-front Slim Zip with soft, kissing-welt zipper garage and chin flap for next-to-skin comfort
  • Variable Conditions Cuff has discreet, on-seam thumb loops for added coverage, and a spiral-stitch construction allows sleeves to push up easily without constricting forearms
  • Two high handwarmer pockets have Slim Zip installs, clean-finished zipper garages, and are harness- and pack-compatible; two internal drop-in mesh pockets

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, super warm, great for outdoors and hospital. I bought this for my boyfriend who is a resident. Recently, the hospital only allows non-pilling fleece to be worn, and it can get pretty cold in the building. The jacket looks professional while walking around the hallways, is very lightweight, and he's received compliments wearing it by the other hospital staff. He also wears it outdoors and biking (he has biked across the country), and tells me a month later how much he loves it. He wears it all the time, even when he isn't at the hospital. I bought him a size small, and it fits him perfectly (and was so surprised how well it fits him). If you wear a size small and sometimes medium, I would buy a size medium instead of a small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this I waited two years to research and ask questions about this jacket. Now, when I'm not wearing my R1, I want to kick my own ass for waiting. This is sleepwear comfort on the trail. This has become my Linus security coat. This thing breathes and wicks away moisture at an amazing rate. I found it cool and not warm at first, but throw it on under a layer and it's toasty warm. Now that I have had it for several weeks, I am now using it in cooler situations (40+). I had many doubts. I bought this Jacket. I have no regrets. If you are active, you will worship this jacket. If you want to stay home, you will not be disappointed. If you do not own this jacket, you could be more comfortable right now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi-use Jacket With Usual Great Patagonia Quality This jacket is extremely versatile as it's great as a mid layer when it's very cold, as a stand alone jacket on spring or fall days, and as a fantastic jacket for the air traveler, as it packs down to a very compact size and it keeps you warm enough while flying that you don't need to use the disgusting airplane blankets. Plus it has Patagonia's usual high quality and solid warranty.,,,,It is much less bulky than regular fleece jackets, even 100 weight versions, and as such, is more appropriate as a mid layer.,,,,Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Soft, warm, light layer. A pretty great layering piece. Form fitting so that it can go under just about anything, and it is pretty dang warm too with a shell over the top. I'm 6'3", 220 lbs and I have a large. Sleeve length is perfect, fits snugly through the chest/shoulders, but that was the fit I was looking for to be able to layer it. Also, looks great just rocking it casually on cool spring/fall days. Happy with it and I would buy it again! ,,,,Patagonia sizing is always a little tough to figure out. All pieces are cut differently with their fit, depending on their usage. For example, my Patagonia shell is a L and is cut loosely enough to layer even a down coat underneath. Meanwhile, the R3 fleece (reg fit) is barely larger than the R1 (trim fit). Either extreme irregularities in their sizing/cutting, or I just don't get it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Material.. Fit is not quite right... and no thumbloops on the men First... there is no thumb loops on the inseam of the sleeves.. The description on the webpage needs to be updated. Thumb-loops are useful when layering to keep sleeves in place while donning outer jackets.,,,,I am 6'3" with 36" sleeves x 16-1/2" neck and 42" chest. Everything fits well (neck, sleeve length, torso legnth all excellent), except the shoulders are tight and they bunch up clothing underneath. ,,,,Jacket is warm and is used as a baselayer underneath a softshell. The material is smooth and slides right into other jackets..Works well in New England winters as long as you keep moving.,,,,My rating system is 5 is life changing.. 4 is glad i bought this and will recommend to friends. 3 is ok for me and will keep it. anything below that gets returned with a 1 being a complete waste of resources to even manufacture it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and Versatile Pricey, but totally worth it. Works for a wide variety of temperatures and activity levels, softer and warmer than the previous generation R1's. Two handwarmer pockets are super useful, and has a droptail hem for tucking into your pants/layering. Not as tight fitting as the R1 pullovers. Full-length zip is more versatile for the small added weight over the pullover. You might find that you start to live in R1's all year round.. Get it, you'll love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fell and comfortable ,,"Seriously, has there been a more perfectly designed and executed piece of clothing than the R 1? I've got two of them. One is about 5 years old. It is ratty and threadbare and beloved. My wife ordered a new one for me, so I'd look more presentable in the winter, spring and fall (or as I call it Patagonia R 1 season). Don't tell my original, but I love the new one too. Even though I feel a tad guilty for cheating on it with the newest R 1."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket, I wear it everyday......wash it sometimes This jacket is awesome. I got it about 4 months ago and wear it constantly. My occupation requires me to try to stay warm and this jacket works great as a midlayer. I am 6'2 185lbs and wear a large, it fits well. I would recommend it to anyone as a midlayer jacket or a stylish sweater to wear around town in the spring or fall. Match this jacket with an icebreaker base and a down sweater and you will be warm and stylin!
