Men's Fit Guide Details & Info
Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.
Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.
FORMFITTING • Conforms to the body's contours.
SLIM FIT • Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.
REGULAR FIT • Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.
RELAXED FIT • Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

The definition of a high performance shellPatagonia's finest effort to replicate something only NASA could construct. If you want a shell that literally seals out all the perils that Mother nature can throw at you, then this will be your choice. I felt guilty spending so much since i have other great goretex shells, but I'm rationalizing it because i literally don't think I'll ever need another shell to do the job for high alpine skiing or going to sporting event in the worst possible muck. Get a color and size you can live with for decades unless you have FU money.
PROS: This will give anyone the ultimate ability to do custom layers for any temp or activity. If you look at the details of the way this is constructed you'll start to see why it's pricey. They did amazing things with the stitching, seeming, zippers and even the gooey feeling powder skirt strip that keeps it from riding up. I don't honestly know the real difference the Pro Goretex will really make, but based on the other little things they did right, I trust that it is a smart choice by Patagonia. The number of pockets and stash pockets are very cool..
CONS: Size might run just a bit large for most people. For example the sleeves are long (probably 33 or 34 in length), but the Velcro cuffs solve that problem. I'm in between a L and XL typically and the L fits perfectly except for the sleeves. Here's probably the biggest issue a lot of people will not like - the texture of the material is "crispy". Be prepared that it makes noise as if you're wearing a plastic trash bag. I think I'll get used to it because of the other great aspects. This is knit-pick but the shoulder pocket is very small and won't accommodate a large cell phone. The inside secure pocket is also very small.

Dear Gentlemen, I have purchased one for my son whom is a snowboarder, when I received it I could not believe how thin and light this jacket is... I am wondering if I should exchange it for a thicker warmer jacket? Is this mostly for wind and rain?
