Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. It's cute to think of a fabric as being afraid of water. Now if only they could make a bearphobic coating. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Men's Fit Guide Details & Info
Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.
Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.
FORMFITTING • Conforms to the body's contours.
SLIM FIT • Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.
REGULAR FIT • Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.
RELAXED FIT • Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

Nice shorts, poor fitI'm torn as i write this. The shorts are very nice, well made, great material, nice features. However the fit isnt very good. I am 5'11, with a 31.5inch waist and 160lbs. I initially bought a medium, waist fit snug (but good) but the elastic around my thighs was tight and uncomfortable. I then returned for a large, and these were loose around the waste, but the elastic around the thigh was fine. So i ordered these twice, and returned both. Great return experience as always, just think i should have listened to some of the other reviewers.

Great shorts for... most anything, if you don't need pocketsSupportive and fit closely without being clingy or constrictive. I am able to jog, run, and sprint in them very comfortably. The material is light, breathable, and so far appears to be resistant to snagging and tears. These are light enough that I can comfortably wear them under a pair of trail or tactical pants when the temperature/weather can't decide witch way to swing. They are very good about catching moisture and wicking it when I use them as a base, or simply letting it evaporate if I wear them alone to run or just lounge around in.,,,,About the only thing that fits in the zippered pocket is a house key or credit card sized object. The reflective Patagonia logos on my first couple of pairs begin to fade after about a dozen washings. It is still visible, just not as reflective as it used to be. My favorite shorts, 6 pairs, oldest are 2 years, heavily worn, all in great shape.,,,,I am 5'9" and 152 pound with a 29" waist. These shorts end just above my knee level.
