I don't know a lot about science and technology but I do know that things with "nano" in them are super techy and futuristic. Patagonia was spot on when they named their Men's Nano Puff Hoody. Techy and futuristic. This insulating layer utilizes compressible PrimaLoft® ONE to trap heat close to the body while not adding excess bulk. Synthetic insulation still functions even when wet making this a very useful layer in even the most severe conditions. The 100% recycled polyester shell can handle light moisture while blocking wind and can be layered effortlessly. Add into the equation the insulated hood and the fact the whole thing can stow into its own internal.... and you get the solution to your cold weather problems.

Down South here it feels cold as hell when it's drizzling and 38 degrees! I have had a Nano for 2 years now and love it! Whether outdoors or running up to the store in town. It's is amazingly light for the insulation provided and also works well as an under layer as well as a pillow in the hammock. Stuffs well, but is slippery to hold. And could use another inside pocket. All in all, tho it costs a lot; my wife didn't catch me ordering it; it is a nice piece of gear.
I got this jacket over two years ago for christmas. I couldn't believe how thin and light it was at first, but this jacket will keep you warm. Its my go to for fall and winter activities. It is great to be worn on its own or as an insulation layer under a shell. Its got enough room under it so you can layer with fleece or more insulation on colder days as well. And as with every Patagonia product it is back by their great warranty.
"Great Jacket that is equally functional around town as it is in the woods"
I have had some form of the Nano Puff jacket for several years now and it is my go to jacket in the fall and winter for almost all my endeavors. Whether it be just going around town or trying to stay warm on the ride into work, or hiking around the Smokies or belaying at the Obed this jacket simply gets the job done all while looking good. You might say the Nano Puff is something of a Renaissance man.
