Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the single most useful pieces of gear I own I've taken this jacket on just about every adventure i've been on in the last two years. I pretty much lived in it while climbing Rainier and its an absolute must have for ice climbing in New England. It blocks wind and keeps me warm and dry while sailing in Maine. Plus, it looks pretty cool when bar hopping around Boston. The jacket is warm, breathable and light weight. Its water resistant and dries quickly which is great for climbing on snowy, wet days. Bottom line, this jacket is super versatile and does its job well.,,,,My only complaint is that the hood is not really helmet compatible. You can wear it under your helmet, but not over a helmet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid as a rock, soft as a feather! I've had this jacket now for 2 years and it is my go to piece in just about any condition. It works great as an around town jacket, as a layer under a shell in wet weather, or a standalone in 40-50 temps. With a fleece under, this jacket will keep you warm in temps around freezing. It is super lightweight and packs EXTREMELY small... think the size of a grapefruit. It is great at keeping the wind out. It is not a waterproof jacket, but holds up well to light rain/moisture. Being a Patagonia product, I know this will last for decades, so it was worth the price. I'm 6'2, 215lbs and the large is a perfect size for me with space for a base layer or fleece if needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Mid-layer I'm 5'8, 150lbs and got a small. Fits perfectly. Wore this snowboarding in Heavenly, with merino wool t-shirt and longsleeve underneath, and a shell on top. Temps ranged from 40 (in the lift line and in the sun) to about 20 (on the mountain with wind chill - winds were probably about 30 mph). Absolutely incredible warmth for the weight and bulk. Doesn't even weigh ONE pound! It's so light that you'll forget you're wearing it, and takes up very little space when packed down. Hood is a little small, but it might fit well under a helmet. Zipper goes over my chin when zipped all the way. This is my new snow staple. GET IT!,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epic. Will get you all the girls, shield you from freezing cold, make others gaze on you in awe. This jacket is arguably perfect for any cool conditions. Super light weight, this thing packs down to nothing and layers like a champ under shells. Given its weight and size, it is miraculously warm in cold conditions- but wearable even in warmer ones if left unzipped. Minor issues include a rather small hood, which can be tight on big heads if zipped all the way up. on the plus side, this means it fits under most helmets nicely. Neoprene wrist cuffs can be somewhat annoying, but this is a small price to pay for the benefits this jacket brings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nano Puff Hoody VS. Down Jacket Hoody Took this from the Patagonia site because I had the same question and I thought I would share.,,,,"If you are going to be in cold, dry conditions, the down hoody is the hands-down choice. When it's dry, no other insulator can match down for warmth per ounce.,,But the key word is "dry." If you are planning to be out in wet conditions, it's the Nano, again hands down; the synthetic insulation is not nearly as compromised by wet as down - which is worse than useless if it gets soaked.",,,,and that's why I got the Nano Puff Hoody

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommend it to everyone The thing is absolutely windproof, and melting snow drips off easily. Mixed snow gets it a little wet, but I've never soaked it through in some pretty intense storm, and it's never lost its warmth in the wet. The hood adds like 20 degrees of comfort instantly, but it is on the small side. That makes it insulate well with no pockets or dead spots, but if you have a long neck like me, you look like a turtle. But if it keeps me warm, it keeps me warm, so I wholeheartedly recommend it. Oh, and light. Sooooo light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth The Money This Jacket works great. I purchased it for a backpacking trip this summer for the cold mornings at high altitudes. I have been using it around campus and it is one of those jackets that are always the right temperature. The hood is fairly small, but for cold mornings that will be great. I would recommend wearing it with a shell because it is made to be insulation so the rubbing from the backpack can cause the jacket to wear more quickly. If you buy it for its intended purpose it is worth it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Jacket I Have Ever Owned I will keep this review short and sweet, though a detailed spec sheet of awesomeness would not even do this jacket justice. If you are thinking about it, even just a little, jump in and buy this jacket; it's downright awesome. I'm 5'6", 150 lbs., and the small fits like it was made just for me. The hoody is great, and really comes to the plate on cold winter mornings. I can't recommend this jacket enough.
