Someone turned me onto Merino wool and I haven’t looked back. The shirt keeps me nice and warm even after it gets wet. This is a huge bonus as a base layer. I can wear this camping for multiple days and it doesn’t get a smell like the synthetic shirts. It has exceptional quality, but that is what you should expect from Patagonia. If you like to do things outdoors, then you have to buy one of these shirts.
this shirt does not itch me like the lwt version. its actually very nice and soft. but the cuffs are to loose and dont stay on your wrist like the lwt version of this shirt. the long sleeves are fine but when paired with loose cuffs they tend to spill over onto your hand. if your wearing your thumb strap it works just fine though. ive tried a few merino wool shirts and returned them becuase they sucked. but this one is close enough to what i want in a wool shirt. patagonias wool is tagless and a little long around the waist and arms so i can tuck it in. would be perffect with the lwt cuffs though
this mid weight shirt doesnt itch me like the lightweight version. its acually very nice, doesnt itch at all. but i prefer the cuffs on the lwt shirt because on this mwt they are loose and dont stay on your wrist, instead they fall over your wrist onto youre hand which drive me nuts unless im wearing the thumb strap. but whatever im tired of returning things so im keeping it. this is still better than the icebreaker i tried

This is by far the most comfortable shirt I've ever owned. Awesome quality, durability and warmth, yet it packs down to nothing and is quite lightweight and breathable. I only have one but will definitely purchase another before the cold hits. I've worn it at least a hundred times, and washed it less than ten - it takes forever for this thing to absorb the slightest odor, as long as you're not profusely sweating in it. Couldn't possibly recommend this shirt more...just buy one.
