"Very light. Excellent weather protection." 01/29/12
Love the coat, very light and takes up no space at all in my pack. Effective protection against wind and rain. Nice layering piece over my nano puff or down jacket. Hood takes some getting used. I was apprehensive at first about the pit zipz/pocket zipper thing, but once I got used to it started to like it. Excellent product and thanks for the fast shipping, MJ.
"The best lightweight rain shell ever!!!" 12/31/11
This jacket may be pricey but if you ever do backpacking where it rains...than this jacket is more than worth it. I did a weekend backpacking trip in the fall where it rained almost the whole time and this jacket was my savior! With its H2NO technology it will keep you dry from the outside rain while wicking away sweat also keeping you dry from the inside. You won't even notice the weight if you have to pack it because it's light as a feather. The fit is athletic/slim so if you are not the slimmest guy you may wanna size up.
"Go to Jacket for Traveling" 11/30/11
It's light weight and can scrunch down into just about any pocket. This is the only jacket I bring on trips that keep the weight of my luggage down while making sure I am protected in rain or snow. I live up in Portland where it rains 9 months of the year so I depend heavily on this jacket and when it comes to weight, comfort and protection this is my go to jacket over many others. This jacket fell out of my car into a giant dirty puddle... I brought it into the house and rinsed it off in the shower and it looks good as new... Literally. This baby does not stain.
"High Value Low Weight" 11/16/11
I honestly wouldn't even think about leaving this jacket behind on a trip. I took it with me to Mt Khatadin in Maine. The day I hiked was windy and poured nearly the entire climb. Luckily the clouds broke halfway across the Knife's Edge. If it wasn't for this jacket the climb would have been hell. It kept me dry and broke the wind and I couldn't ask for more. When it wasn't raining I rolled the jacket up (to the size of a soda can) and shoved it in my bag. Its one of those pieces of gear that's so light you might forget you have it til you need and you'll be damn happy you brought it with you.
"Light weight, fits great, repels water unlike anything else" 10/25/10
I've owned more than one Patagonia shell, and this is the best. Amazingly light weight, (perfect) slim fit, and it completely rejects wind and water. My R1 and R2 tops fit well under it, but don't plan on much more than a R2 and a light base layer unless you go a size up from your norm. The fabric is very thin and light, a bit stretchy too. The pit zip/pocket combo is unusual, but you get used to it. If I had to offer a concern, it would be the possibility of durability issues, but so far so good....and with Patagonia's warranty it's really not that much of a risk.
"Super Light Comfort" 10/15/10
I got this coat for spring, summer, and fall trips. The thing I am most impressed with is how light it is. Feels comfortable to wear. I got the large which is quite roomy for a 6ft tall and weigh about 180. Works well with a few layers underneath. If getting for warmer weather use would suggest getting the medium.
