I'm going to try my very best not to make any puns about the Patagonia Men's Knifeblade Jacket. This cutting-edge jacket will have you looking sharp. (my very best isn't very good). Patagonia's best soft shell for alpine and ice climbing, the Knifeblade sports Polartec® Power Shield® Pro fabric for lightweight weather resistance and ample breathability (it is actually more of a cross between a hard and soft shell). It also slides easily over other layers for colder weather. I like this jacket for everyday wear, while much cooler people will utilize it for climbing up ice or chilly activities that require a helmet (the hood is adjustable and helmet-compatible).

Men's Fit Guide Details & Info
Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.
Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.
FORMFITTING • Conforms to the body's contours.
SLIM FIT • Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.
REGULAR FIT • Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.
RELAXED FIT • Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

My favorite softshellVery pleased with the knifeblade jacket. I don't even notice it while I'm wearing it. The power shield pro stretches, and allows excellent freedom of movement. The material is thin, and there is no insulation. The jacket breaths extremely well (better than neoshell, which also breaths well), and the water resistance is excellent. I have spent an accumulation of several hours in rainy conditions, and the jacket has not wet through. I suspect that the material would allow water through after prolonged exposure in a downpour. The seams are not taped. I am 6' 200 lbs, and the fit is trim and comfortable. The jacket has enough room and stretch to accommodate a base layer and an Atom LT jacket. However, I prefer to layer no more than a mid weight fleece under it, and layer something warmer over it when necessary.
