"Really versatile, super light weight, all-terrain, keeps wind out/warmth in, looks AWESOME" 10/25/11
This is my 3rd Guide Jacket (one was stolen, USPS lost the other) and I'm always incredibly satisfied with both quality and performance. I originally bought the Guide for fall time in Chicago, but it was warm enough to get carried over to the winter and was great again during the thawing Spring. It's a super versatile and is great against both rain and wind. I really enjoy the leaner fit and the durable material. If you need a great jacket for the full, early winter/spring, THIS is it.
"One of the greatest jackets I have own" 04/17/11
I am so happy with all the jacket. It is light weight yet has been able to stand up to cold weather we get here in Oklahoma (not much, but still). It fights great, and is small enough to fit under a bigger jacket. I recommend this to anybody.
"My boyfriend loves me more because I bought him this" 02/27/11
My boyfriend says that this jacket has excellent wind-stopping capabilities. Too bad I can't find him some pants that offer the same "wind-stopping" capabilities for burrito night. He likes the tight fit (as do I) and water beads very well on the outer shell. Highly recommended!
"4-Season Jacket" 01/18/11
This is my first soft-shell and I couldn't be happier with it. I am 5'10", 165 with a 32" waist and the Medium fits perfectly. There is plenty of room in the chest, but be aware of the sleeves if you plan on layering underneath. The slightly stretchy outer material repels water nicely, and the inner brushed fleece is very soft. The micro-fleece collar works great as a chin guard/wind flap. Zippers fit into "garages" and lockout moisture. The hand warmer pockets are huge and cover the entire front of the jacket. I especially like the chest pocket to carry around my mp3 player, etc. Nice looking jacket that can be worn in most weather!
"Great Looking Jacket, Well Made" 12/23/10
I have been using the guide jacket throughout this past fall and into the beginning of this winter. It is a very stylish and well built jacket. It has a very soft fabric on the inside and the outside is very resistant to light rain/snow. This jacket is definitely not built for winter temperatures but provides a good base layer. I wear it on a daily basis and couldn't be happier.
"Great jacket- if you can afford it." 12/20/10
I tried a lot of jackets in this style, and this was the clear winner. First of all, the fit is perfect for an average-sized person. Some jackets were too snug around the middle, but this one is just right especially considering there are draw cords if needed. Also the finish is very wind and water resistant while maintaining breathability. Finally, the fleece-like inner material is soft and warm throughout the whole jacket. It's what you'd expect from Patagonia.
"Simple, sharp-looking, versitile softshell." 12/02/10
This is my first softshell, and I'm very satisfied. It fills the "jack-of-all-trades" role very well, working as a standalone jacket for 40-60 degree (ish) conditions, and on top of a mid-layer for anything cooler. It blocks the wind quite well, enough that you can get away with using cheap fleece as a midlayer and still be very warm. It's water-resistance is okay, but if you're spending any time out in real rain you'll get wet. I love the cut--at 6'1" and 190lbs the large fits me perfectly, has a nice athletic appearance, and still allows for layers underneath. Plus, the arms are long enough, something I've had problems with in the past. I'd definitely buy this jacket again.
"Jacket has a a role for almost every season." 10/31/10
I picked up this jacket back in early summer 2010. Throughout the summer I would occasionally pop it on when a light rain would roll in. Water beads very nicely on this jacket and have had absolutely not problem even in a heavier rain. As you may have read the jacket is a little on the slim fit side, but nothing to serious. The jacket also seems to be very flexible. The exterior material is very "stretchy" and allows fantastic movement while being worn
