"Great pants" 02/03/11
These are great lightweight hiking pants. Super durable without the bulk and weight. The buckle is well designed and I love the zippered side pockets. I'm not sure what the other reviewer here was talking about...these pants are not tight AT ALL, in fact the only quibble I have with these pants is that they are a little loose. Don't be persuaded by one erroneous review that these pants somehow make you look like a skinny-jeaned hipster.
"Durable, Comfy, and Flexible." 08/11/10
They are a great pair of pants for almost anything. I took them on an adventure overseas, and they are great they breathe enough that they are not too bad on a warm day, and yet on top of a cliff they keep you quite warm despite the strong winds. I was very happy that I purchased these pants! The main pockets are a good size, and the one side pocket is very handy, they are light and yet get the job done, even in light wind. My only complaint about them is the belt that comes with them, it tends to loosen on its own, but re-tightening it is not that difficult.
"Are these skinny jeans??" 03/22/10
Patagonia's website described these pants as "now, with a modernized fit that is wider at the ankle." If that's the case then the old version must have looked like your jeans in the 90's when you cuff-rolled them. The fabric is nice, the pockets are adequate, but the fit is an issue. The upper leg fits well through the seat and thigh, but from the knee down, they look like they belong on some make-up wearing emo-dude. Waayyyy too narrow. I don't recommend these unless you want to look like Pete Wentz on the trail. Not a good look, IMO.
