Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you are cold--ever--buy this jacket. It will solve that problem. ,,This jacket feels like getting back into your super soft, super warm bed every time you put it on in the morning. ,,I wear this for my ten minute walk to work in Breckenridge every morning in the winter. I don't have to layer it, nor wear gloves if I use the aptly-described handwarmer pockets. Even on the blustiest days, the jacket stays warm and dry. ,,Complaints? The jacket does seems a tad short in the back and the orange color does show stains pretty well (my beard sometimes drips my leftovers onto my collar). Also, the jacket is so warm it really limits itself to the coldest of days. Even on reasonably cold outings where lots of activity is involved, overheating becomes an issue.,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not worth the price...... Patagonia's Down Parka from a year and a half ago had a down fill weight of 8.7 ounces. This jacket has a down fill weight of 6.3 ounces. The Fitz Roy Hoody is the same price as the Down Parka from a year and a half ago, but it has considerably less down. If you are going to make a lesser jacket then it should have a lower price, like twenty percent less. Check out the Montbell Permafrost Parka or the Rab Neutrino Endurance. Both are quality jackets with a better dollar/down ratio. I think Patagonia is trying to trick us. I feel like I was violated by an old friend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heats like a Toaster Oven, But Could Use a Higher Collar I love this puffy, bundle of heat. The 800-fill is REALLY toasty yet super light. So toasty, in fact, I wish it had pit zips since I've sweated in this thing in 30 degree temps. Also wish the collar was a bit higher since it doesn't really cover my chin unless I put the hood on. I'm also still getting used to my paranoia from snagging the light nylon exterior on something sharp, but you simply can't beat the heat this thing puts out from such a light coat. Well, maybe Feathered Friends can, but nobody else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great warmth, outer material does not wear well. Had the jacket for going on two full winters in northern Michigan, the warmth from the jacket is quite remarkable (and I love the hood, and blue color) but the nylon outer just does not stand up to time well. The lower section on the back has faded color and the material looks very worn, not to mention the two small tears that have opened up from fabric fatigue - I would certainly look elsewhere for a more durable outer fabric if I were to buy another jacket, especially for a $300 coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get this Jacket! I must say that I absolutely love this jacket! This is my favorite belay jacket when i'm climbing in the high desert in the fall and spring, and I've never gotten cold waiting for my partner to get up her project. the build of this jacket is top notch, The materials used are of very high quality and after two years of being lived in it almost looks brand new. There's no fray or threads to pull anywhere on the jacket. If you need a warm jacket this is the one for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If your wanting a fantastic, light, packable, extremely warm hoody...Look no further....No really!! Great down Hoody, warm beyond belief, you can't go wrong with this one. Spend a few days winter camping where is was down in the minusus with the wind chill, and this thing performed perfectly. Not that I ever want to do that again, but I was kept nice and cozy with this under my shell. Also been wearing it with just a long sleeve t-shirt, while shoveling snow, and it works great.....Listen...Quit reading, and just buy it....You wont be disapointed!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not warm enough, but super comfortable A very comfortable jacket, but not warm enough to do the trick for extended use. For the price, I'd go for something from OR with a higher fill and lower price point. Jacket's materials make me wonder how it would hold up under hard use. The jacket looks good, though, and if you're using it around town you can't go wrong. Just not sure it's right for the mountains. BTW, returned it and am holding out for something warmer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO WARM! This jacket is truly warm. I would not recommend it for high-output activity unless you are in sub-zero temps. In the coldest part of MI winters, I wear this and a t-shirt (sometimes pants and underwear if I'm feeling modest) and I often get too hot within minutes of entering buildings. ,,Great jacket for casual wear, but I cannot speak to its durability for adventure wear.
