DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. It's cute to think of a fabric as being afraid of water. Now if only they could make a bearphobic coating. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally own one, and 100% impressed! I've been eyeing one of these for a few months, and after taking advantage of the free overnight shipping sale, I am more than impressed. This jacket is unbelievably light, stylin', and super warm.,,,,For all practical purposes, the Patty is pretty unbeatable; I've never owned something with such a great warmth-weight ratio. It also packs to be very small, making it great for travel or overnight trips. My only complaint is the sweater's boxy cut. I'm a skinny guy, but I imagine it's pretty hard for most people to fill or wear in any sort of tighter/athletic way. But, this allows layering underneath while still being wearable under a shell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and light. Bought this in store after talking to a guy who knows his stuff on backpacking in the winter. This is the one I chose because of how incredibly light it is (feels more like a t-shirt), it's pretty cheap for 800-fill down, and how awesome it regulates temperature. I've been in this with a t-shirt in the 20 degree range day hiking and at the new years party where the dancing made the room very hot, yet I didn't sweat. ,,,,If I had to be picky, I'd say the fit is a tad boxy and the down shifts to either side in the back after you've been driving for awhile. ,,,,Great jacket, I always trust patagonia to keep me warm for these winter months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile, Warm AND Comfortable! I live in Chicagoland and am outside a lot year round. I recently bought this with the impending "Polar Vortex" on its way. When I received the jacket in the mail, I proceeded to work from home wearing the jacket all night. While being high quality down, I felt completely comfortable and never overheated.,,,,The warmth is more than enough while not being cumbersome. Get this jacket if you want supreme warmth, comfort, and layering abilities.,,,,NOTE: If you want a more fitted jacket, go a size smaller. If you want to layer, stay with your normal size. I'm 6'3" 200lbs. and bought an XL. Since I like to layer, this is perfect considering I have long arms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super compressible and warm This is my go to jacket whenever i'm in doubt. I can wear it with a t shirt on those brisk early winter days or layer it and the mercury really drops. I love wearing it under a shell when i'm lift skiing. It is also perfect for traveling when you're going to different climates because it packs down super small so you can throw it in your carry on and be ready for the cold weather when your plane lands. what i love most about this jacket is that the collar zips right up around your neck and puts the down right where you need it to stay extra warm, no need for a gaiter or scarf with this jacket. No excuse not to stay warm when you have this in your arsenal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely versatile jacket This jacket is just great. Much more versatile and gets much more use than a thicker down jacket. It is perfect as a midlayer in the winter under a rain/wind shell, or as an outer layer in the other months. Packs up very small and is very well made. It is also fashionable enough to wear in the city without looking strange :D ,,,,Patagonia has become a bit of a fashion brand lately, but without compromising on quality of manufacture, function and a dedication to reducing their environmental impact.,,,,Even though it is a little expensive, it is well worth the cost as it should last a long time if you take care of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best jackets I have ever owned. So I just counted, and I own 26 jackets. But I really only wear about 4 different jackets, and this jacket is in my top two. I've only had it for about a year, but it has been life-changing. It is insanely warm and does a surprisingly good job at blocking wind. Here in Japan, the winters are not terrible (unless you're in the mountains). I wear this thing from fall to spring and I'm never wishing I had another layer. If I go skiing or climbing, I'll add one more layer on top of this, but then I'm usually roasting.,,Also, this jacket is very very very light. You hardly notice you have a jacket on. Nuff said.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from warm, packable, and stylish ya! Its a staple for anyone who lives in the high country, you see these jackets everywhere, and for good reason...they provide instant warmth when you put it on, block the cold breeze and with the drawcord at the bottom you dont get the nasty updraft. Packs up nice in its own pocket gotta love that! Be careful though, the same thing that makes this guy nice and light also makes it prone to snags from anything from a tree to a cat claw or a hangnail! Will def become one of your goto pieces for the bars to the backcountry.....and dont pull out any down that is showing, try to pull it back in from behind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super versatile and comfortable. This sweater is super light and comfortable. Great relaxed fit. Great belay style cuffs. Great feel to the materials especially the inside. Great range of use. This isn't an allweather jacket but I casually much wore this jacket pretty much every day for months with temps ranging from low 70s to low 30s. Really super comfortable and adaptable. Other good features: it packs down to less than a liter's worth of space and the three pockets have plenty of space (i never stuffed them down because i loved the super light feel). Also great for layering, put on a good rain-shell and you're ready for anything.
