"A must have" 04/10/13
I've had this jacket all winter and it's warm enough for about 90% of Chicago's winter if you are commuting via car. When I got it out on the ice while fishing, it was a great layer. Super lightweight, warm and the hooded version provides a hood (duuh) and much more coverage around your neck.
"Can't Go Wrong" 11/20/12
This is a great jacket: super comfy, ultralight, packs small (into its own pocket), good hood.Kept me warm while I was belaying on a long multipitch climb, then was out-of-the-way while hanging on my harness during leads. My two pieces of constructive feedback for Patty-G: The hood is enormous (good when you're wearing a helmet, but the single bungie doesn't quitedo the trick.) And the lack of a chest pocket is inconvenient.Other than those two, this is a bomber jacket -- my winter weather standard!
"Dope!" 09/26/12
If you're looking for a jacket that is super comfy, super warm and super stylish....then you have found your jacket. I love this jacket and it seems like other people like it too because I've already got a few comments on it. I went with the black color and it looks very nice. I am about 205 lbs. and 5'11" with an athletic build and the large fits great. I will also be able to fit Patagonia's R1 pullover underneath it as well for some extra warmth. Thanks Patagonia and Moosejaw for another great product.
"This is a must have especially with the Hood!" 06/05/12
Researched everywhere and this product is amazing! Still keep it in the plastic bag it came in because I'm weird and I love it so much. Just used it while camping and actually ended up sleeping with it on because the weather was about 20 degrees colder than I expected, the down hoody worked amazing in conjunction with my down bag. The hoody kept the wind off my face and the breathability held the temp just right! So far I am very impressed with the warmth and quality. Starting to get a man crush on patagonia!
"Get the hood!" 05/16/12
I got this jacket last winter and it has been exceptional. I don't feel the blustry cold michigan winter wind. the jacket also regulates temperature real well. I'm 5'8 about 170 and I went with a large because I wanted to be able to layer a bit if needed. The medium was a little too tight on my waist (waist: 34). Since the jacket has a draw string at the waist it just made sense. I am very happy I spent the extra $50 and got the hood, it's even warmer, and I love how high the neck zips. Overall this is one of the best jackets you can invest in.
"Warm, light, compresses small, and AWESOME" 03/03/12
This down jacket performes under adverse conditions with flying colors! Patagonia makes a great product while keeping us in the back country in mind. The sweater itself is exteremely warm and the size fits true. I am 6 ft and the large fits me just right! As far as features go, do not sell yourself short by not getting the hood. The hood is what makes this jacket, extremely warm, 15 degrees outside with gusts up to 20mph, and I took off my beenie because my ears were roasting! the jacket is windproof(except zipper!) but over all this jacket compresses for space saving really well but excells at keeping your warm for weighing almost nothing!
"Awesome jacket—just needs cuff adjustment." 10/24/11
I would give this a 5/5 rating if it had cuff adjustments. I love the fit and weight of this jacket, everything is spot on. The hood is nice and spacious and the cut allows some layering. For reference I'm 175lbs 5' 9" with an a pretty athletic build and the medium fits me perfectly. The only thing I see wrong is cuff adjustments—I wish this had some instead of simple elastic cuffs.
"Bitchin' Jacket" 05/26/11
This is literally my favorite thing I own. I wore it in rediculous snow storms walking to class in the morning, out on the town in Manhattan, skiing in Vermont, sub zero temps in Colorado, and am about to bring it out with me to Wyoming for the summer. The absolute best part about this jacket is that it is sooo warm, but you don't feel like you're wearing a heavy coat. YOU CAN ACTUALLY MOVE IN IT. Also, it breaths. You know in the Spring when its freezing in the morning, but then warms up in the afternoon and then you cant stop sweating? Well, all I had to do with this is unzip it a little and I was perfect. I can't say enough good things about this coat.
"I would be buried in this jacket if it came down to it" 05/04/11
Not only is it a great jacket to have in your pack, but it also is great on a night on the town. This jacket not only keeps you warm but also doesn't feel bulky like every other down jacket I have ever bought. Plus this is a great "weather transition" jacket... Spring, fall, winter you name it... works like charm. Ask yourself, "Do I want to be warm but not sweat my ____(fill in the blank) off?" If you said "yes," buy this jacket asap.
