"Get the hood!" 05/16/12
I got this jacket last winter and it has been exceptional. I don't feel the blustry cold michigan winter wind. the jacket also regulates temperature real well. I'm 5'8 about 170 and I went with a large because I wanted to be able to layer a bit if needed. The medium was a little too tight on my waist (waist: 34). Since the jacket has a draw string at the waist it just made sense. I am very happy I spent the extra $50 and got the hood, it's even warmer, and I love how high the neck zips. Overall this is one of the best jackets you can invest in.
"Warm, light, compresses small, and AWESOME" 03/03/12
This down jacket performes under adverse conditions with flying colors! Patagonia makes a great product while keeping us in the back country in mind. The sweater itself is exteremely warm and the size fits true. I am 6 ft and the large fits me just right! As far as features go, do not sell yourself short by not getting the hood. The hood is what makes this jacket, extremely warm, 15 degrees outside with gusts up to 20mph, and I took off my beenie because my ears were roasting! the jacket is windproof(except zipper!) but over all this jacket compresses for space saving really well but excells at keeping your warm for weighing almost nothing!
"Awesome jacket—just needs cuff adjustment." 10/24/11
I would give this a 5/5 rating if it had cuff adjustments. I love the fit and weight of this jacket, everything is spot on. The hood is nice and spacious and the cut allows some layering. For reference I'm 175lbs 5' 9" with an a pretty athletic build and the medium fits me perfectly. The only thing I see wrong is cuff adjustments—I wish this had some instead of simple elastic cuffs.
"Bitchin' Jacket" 05/26/11
This is literally my favorite thing I own. I wore it in rediculous snow storms walking to class in the morning, out on the town in Manhattan, skiing in Vermont, sub zero temps in Colorado, and am about to bring it out with me to Wyoming for the summer. The absolute best part about this jacket is that it is sooo warm, but you don't feel like you're wearing a heavy coat. YOU CAN ACTUALLY MOVE IN IT. Also, it breaths. You know in the Spring when its freezing in the morning, but then warms up in the afternoon and then you cant stop sweating? Well, all I had to do with this is unzip it a little and I was perfect. I can't say enough good things about this coat.
"I would be buried in this jacket if it came down to it" 05/04/11
Not only is it a great jacket to have in your pack, but it also is great on a night on the town. This jacket not only keeps you warm but also doesn't feel bulky like every other down jacket I have ever bought. Plus this is a great "weather transition" jacket... Spring, fall, winter you name it... works like charm. Ask yourself, "Do I want to be warm but not sweat my ____(fill in the blank) off?" If you said "yes," buy this jacket asap.
"Awesome Jacket" 02/19/11
I love this jacket. I got it to replace a worn out fleece jacket, and it was my first experience with down. Absolutely amazed. The weight to warmth ratio is phenomenal, and it's an added bonus that the jacket looks great too.
"Lightest and Warmest Jacket Ever!" 02/09/11
The Down Sweater Hoodie is by far the warmest and lightest jacket I have every had or seen. The design of the jacket with thinner but more abundant baffles helps keep the loft in place, in turn keeping me warmer. It is nicely cut, short enough to still wear a harness comfortably with it but does not ride up everytime you sit or bend over. The jacket packs into its inside pocket, making it easily stuffed anywhere in a pack to have at any time. This thing is seriously warm. It snowed the day I got it and was walking my dog in the snow (20ish degrees) with it and a tshirt and was toasty. You will not be disappointed!
"I don't think its possible to be cold in this thing!" 01/29/11
If your looking for a warm jacket, then look no further! This jacket is very warm, light, packs small and great at making dead air. I would recommend this jacket to anyone!
"Buy this sweater, you'll love it!" 01/16/11
This is the lightest, warmest piece of gear I've ever owned. I always throw this in my pack as it takes up very little space and weighs next to nothing. I've worn it on the top of Colorado fourteeners in a whiteout to snowblowing in below 0 temperatures and it never lets me down. It's one of those things that after you own it you wonder how you made it all those years without it.
