Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 3 Season Base Layer (and Insulating Layer for Summer. Go Buy One. Yes, Now! I've been wearing these longer than I can remember, and they've only gotten better over the years. The fit is slim but comfortable. Durable enough to take a decade's worth of my abuse backpacking, climbing, snowboarding, and mountain biking and it's still my go-to base layer most of the year. I find myself grabbing it for just hanging out around town. It just keeps you at the perfect temp and wicks sweat like that's it's job (which consequently, it is!). ,,,,The only real downsize is that it can retain odors over time and between washings, but this comes with the territory of synthetics. If you can't stand the stink, seek out Patagonia's merino wool line instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like it more than UA I bought this product to put under the Marmot Super Hero Jacket for snowshoeing. I'm 5'9" weigh 175 and wear a 41" suit jacket. The medium fits me great. I like the high neck a lot. It's easier to pull up the sleeves than UA and I don't have that cold clammy feeling when I'm not moving. We've had NO SNOW this winter but I've been hiking and warmed right up on an easy hike when the temp. was 40 degrees with drizzle (wearing this product under a light fleece under the Marmot SHJ). When the hike became moderate I had to open up it was that warm. When I got home I wasn't in a big hurry to get it off the way I am with UA. I'll be getting more of this. It washes easily and dries fast.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice but watch out for velcro!!! its really nice, soft, etc but if the thread/styling lines come into contact with velcro e.g. your rain jacket, it will cause serious instant fraying so be careful!! otherwise its quite nice. its reasonably quick drying and is great for cool summer nights etc. anything above 60 and youll be sufficiently warm. also the neck is pretty snug which is really nice. zipper runs smoothly. fairly slim fit but definitely not skin tight. looks nice/is understated and good for everything from hiking to walking around town. odor hasnt been an issue at any point but i always use it above a t shirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love The Capilene 3 MW Zip Neck I really like the Capilene 3 Zip Neck. It's a perfect midweight baselayer. This is my second one. My other Cap 3 is a T-Neck. I decided to get the Zip Neck, so I can regulate my body temperature. You don't get that option with the T-Neck. I wore it under my Mountain Hardwear Exposure II Parka when it was 32 degree's outside and I was totally warm. I had no complaints whatsoever. The fit wasn't skin tight like the picture depicted at the Patagonia web site, but it was pretty close. The Capilene 3 Midweight Zip Neck is a very good product. I definitely recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great Patagonia product! I was headed to Alaska in July and was told to bring lots of layers. I've been looking for an excuse to spend the money on this and I finally had a reason. I'm 5'10" and about 145 and got a small. It can be a tad tight depending on what I wear underneath. However, I like the look with just a plain t-shirt underneath. It's obviously not windproof or anything, but when I combined it with The North Face Gary Lyon's sweater and a Patagonia Torrenshell, I had the best layering system I could ask for for the weird weather. It's nice and soft to the touch and the collar stays put as opposed to the Capilene 2's. I haven't washed it yet, however, so I hope it holds up well to that. I'm grabbing another one to have on hand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits me well, wicks and is warm I am all about staying warm, and I'm satisfied with this shirt. It wicks well enough, but I usually use it over a t shirt as a light insulating layer in lieu of a fleece. You don't see the word lieu enough. Against the skin, it wicks better than most, but not as well as the lighter capilene layers. I have long gorilla arms, and this fits like it was tailored to my specs, so if you have shorter arms, be warned. Patagonia can have zipper problems, but half-zips don't separate, so expect no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what you are looking for. I went back and forth for a long time deciding on the Capilene 2 or 3. After speaking with a super helpful Moosejaw employee, he pointed me toward the 3 due to its extra warmth. I live in western in PA and spent a chilly free winter last year due to this and the combination of the Capilene 4. By itself it is toasty, lightweight, fits well, and looks great. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm stand alone layer or an amazing base.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this if you are warm blooded and want to stay that way There are certain items of clothing that go with you everywhere because they are so useful. Capilene is one of those things. Once you buy one item you want to buy an entire wardrobe. This lightweight fabric improves every piece of gear you own by augmenting its breathability and insulation. ,,I love my Capilene and am scheming to buy 6 more so I have one set to wear every day of the week. In the mean time, it does not smell yet. ,,
