"Great Warmth, Great Ventilation, STINKY!"  04/27/12

If you are single, like me, you probably don't want this product because the whole town will know when you've come down from the mountain. Let me be the first, and the last, to tell you that this shirt will STAAAANK when you are done using it--if you're doing it right. A simple dunk in the river and a hang dry will eliminate some of this, but unfortunately, with this material, you can't ever REALLY get the stank out. Perhaps a washer and dryer would do the trick, but seriously who has a washer or a dryer handy?? Bottom line--it'll perform, no doubt--but that high performance comes with a price.

"Kickass if you find it for a decent price."  04/02/12

Found an Alpha Green small on sale for $30 at REI. I've been pretty much living in the thing for the past week. It's great for slightly chilly spring days when you want a little extra warmth. I imagine with some exertion it'd trap heat and keep you warm in the mid 50's. I'm 6' 3'' and skinny as hell - the small is not form fitting, but I think the shirt may have been as I tried on a small in black and it fill me all snug and sexy-like. Great piece of gear.

"Great fit, comfortable, and awesomely priced"  02/06/12

I'm big on synthetic clothing. It keeps you warm and looks great. I'm usually found lurking through a Nike store and picking up all kinds of their Dri Fit shorts and shirts, but once I found out that Moosejaw was giving 10 dollars off a purchase of 25 I decided to give Patagonia a try. All my roommates swear by it so I figured Hey why not? Boy was I surprised with the fit. The patagonia crew fits better than any of my other crews (North Face, Nike, etc). I thought the medium would be too small for someone who's 6'2, 185 but it was perfect. I'm very impressed and will definitely buy more Patagonia stuff.

"Necessary for anything involving snow"  01/24/12

I have read the reviews of Patagonia base-layers and saw the great price on Moosejaw so I thought I would give it a shot. I did not realize how ridiculous I had been waiting this long. The construction is amazing with sealed and strong seams, the fabric is smooth and soft against your private places, and you will stay warm against any drafts or wind. I have not come across any cons yet. A word of advice is in order though, I ordered a size too large so it is a bit loose. It is tough with slim fit apparel to get that magic size so shoot for the middle, what your actual size is will be perfect. Great manufacturer with a social conscious that actually lives up to the hype, astonishing!

"Perfect Base Layer"  01/16/12

I am a big fan of Cap 3s as my go to base layer in cold conditions. Also great just around the house on its own during winter. I normally wear XL (6'1"/200lbs) but this one is quite a bit larger - especially longer - than I've purchased in past seasons. Maybe Patagonia changed it's sizing. Still fits fine, but I may ty a Large next time I purchase. In all, I love this shirt for its technical and stylish versatility.

"Double it up for a Capilene 6!! When temps are in the teens."  01/13/12

I do a lot of work outside and wear a capilene at all times. These are great if you want to move around and work in the winter. I wear it under a medium shell jacket and stay plenty warm when in anything 20's to 30's. When a morning is in the teens or worse, I wear two capilene 3 MW's to stay warm and toasty. This has kept me from having to shell out the $$ for anything higher weight.

"Best baselayers are patagonia"  01/06/12

Patagonia makes the longest lasting and best base layers. The only problem is that they are kind of expensive. The fit is slim and allows for heavier layers to be worn over the top.

"Best of Patagucci's capilene offers"  01/04/12

Great shirt - whether you are using it for a expedition base layer or pub base layer. True to size and flattering cut. At least I look great in it!!

"great shirt functionally, fit a bit long"  12/29/11

I love the material of this shirt, works great as advertised; however, it's a bit long for my liking (for the sake of reference, t hangs down about 1.5" from my Moosejaw hoodie). I'm 6 ft and 160, so basically the prototypical size for "slim fit," and I purchased a large. I should have got a medium though because I wish it were shorter (and it's not slim enough to the point where a size down would have been too tight). I have another Capilene 3, same size, that I purchased a couple years ago and it fit me much better (length-wise), maybe Patagonia changed their sizing?

"Absolutely Love this Shirt"  12/27/11

I got my first Capilene 3 MW crew base layer in the mail last week and I already can't get enough of it. The fit is perfect, snug but still has the ability to stretch, one of if not the most comfortable shirt I own. I haven't been able to use it for much outdoor activity yet, since we have no snow, but I already want about 5 different colors of this shirt because I'm absolutely in love with the quality/functionality. Patagonia does it again.

"Just one step below Icebreaker"  12/24/11

This is probably the most comfortable synthetic I've used. It is soft, durable, wicks and insulates well. The only downside that I can think of is that it has a tint of smell after a couple days and I'm not sure if it insulates when wet like wool. But for the money, this is a great base layer that I am sure will last me years.

"The best there is...."  12/19/11

Perfect for my base layer when I ice climb or ski, this base layer wicks away my sweat so I don't get chilled. I also use this base layer as my top layer in fall and spring when I go rock climbing on those cooler days. Its very abrasion resistant and has stretch for making those hard rock moves. Lastly my wife says this product doesn't leave me with a smelly funk!
