The Patagonia Men's Bivy Down Parka is a winter parka for heading out of the house when the temperatures drop and the snow falls. The Bivy Down Parka is a lower hip length, giving you a touch of extra coverage so you can last longer while shoveling snow. Packed with 600 fill power duck down for a pleasantly heated upper half, the baffles prevent the down from shifting and create a classic puffy jacket look. The insulated hood is ready to protect the head upon your shoulders while you slip your hands into the handwarmer pockets at the sides. Secure small valuables in the inner chest pocket, zip the front zip, and button the front placket to prevent wind from finding its way inside. You are now winter ready.
FEATURES of the Patagonia Men's Bivy Down Parka
Durable nylon canvas fabric with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish on shoulder and collar insulated with Traceable Down (third-party-certified, nonlive-plucked, non-force-fed) 600-fill-power duck down
Full-zip parka with external wind flap with snap buttons
Welted handwarmer pockets lined with brushed polyester jersey internal zippered left-chest pocket
Attached hood with Traceable Down (third-party-certified, non-live-plucked, nonforce-fed) 600-fill-power duck down and interior, adjustable drawcord
Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. It's cute to think of a fabric as being afraid of water. Now if only they could make a bearphobic coating. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Warm parka for Chicago winterI bought this parka for use in commute during the Chicago winter. So far, it has held upto my expectations. It is warm enough even in 16 degrees F; covers most the torso from neck till middle thighs and is comfortable to take off and put on. Wanted to highlight a few points which might interest someone else looking at this parka,,1. the parka is not water-proof. So, wearing in the rain is out,,2. it has a nice inner pocket for storing your phone/music player ,,3. the other color (forge grey) is much better

Really good looking jacket!I am a girl, but pretty tall & I purchased this in an extra small, mostly b/c I really liked the "matte" look of this coat, not shiny. I also bought it in the green & it is such a great shade, kind of military looking. It is a sharp look, clean lines & it holds its shape as well as being VERY warm. I live in Wyoming/Montana area so staying warm & dry is important. I would highly recommend to anyone to buy this coat! (Including the ladies :))

So far, so good - warm, stylish, and high qualityThis coat is great so far. Currently in Michigan, it's consistently in the single digits for temp, and this coat has been warm. It cuts wind relatively well, although for the coldest of cold temps, you should layer underneath it. For walking to the gym from my car at -3 degrees, a t-shirt under is fine. ,,,,The hood is large, which is nice for keeping the wind off my face.,,,,It is a bit longer than I expected, hanging just at or below my hips, but being able to unzip from the bottom is awesome for sitting in the car. I didn't expect to like that feature. The fit is nice - I have a thick torso but short arms so I was concerned about ordering a medium. Fits great - not too long in the arms. I'm adjusting to not having a ton of pockets - I'm coming from a 3-in-1 ski coat with pockets all over the place for keys, credit cards, and phone. Other than hand pockets, this coat as ONE pocket inside. I wish it had more, FWIW.,,,,For now, it's great. We'll see how it holds up when it gets wet.
