The Patagonia Half Mass 15L Bag is a messenger bag for biking to work. Pack up your 15” laptop into the padded computer sleeve and secure your pens in their allotted space before securing the flap and slinging it over your shoulder. The seatbelt-like strap has a floating pad so you can adjust it appropriately, plus a removable stability strap so you can keep it on your back and out of the way when pedaling down Main Street. A large reflective strip on the front flap keeps you visible if you find yourself staying at the office later. The side water bottle pocket keeps hydration at the ready for the long commute. Don’t let a little rain get you down, while you may want to start pumping your legs fast, the polyurethane coating and durable water repellent finish will have the water beading up and rolling off the fabric.

Durable Water Repellant

Now if only they could make a bearphobic coating. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

It's just awesomeI use it to get my laptop and binders and papers and the list goes on... to and from school. I'm a grad student and pack it full of everything and anything I can. It fits my 17'' laptop and case in the laptop sectional of the bag. At the same time it fits 2-3 binders and my lunch. Great for someone who rides a bike to/from work. The straps are adjustable which is mighty helpful!! The cushion part is really helpful and comfortable, especially on the days that I have to carry my whole life in the bag. The water bottle holder fits my 1L nalgene bottle or liberty water bottle perfectly. Overall, it's my favorite bag I own!! :)

Great bag at a great valueIt was a tough decision to buy this bag as their are some great options but the lifetime warranty by Patagonia is great and they always deliver with great products!,,,,I bought this bag to carry writing gear: laptop, notebook, snacks and I've even carried medical supplies and clothes and things.,,,,It is very comfortable for a short commute and the handle on top comes in handy.,,,,I use a spill proof travel coffee mug and the pocket is firm and the mug has never fallen out of the bag.,,,,The bag sometimes needs to be leaned up against a chair, table or desk in ordernto stand up but I'd say that's my fault for having it filled unevenly.,,,,It doesn't have as much room as a backpack but it works great for me.

Best Messenger Bag I've SeenI am in love with this bag. I am a teacher that changes rooms every period, so I got this bag to carry my materials from class to class. This bag has exceeded my expectations in every way. The padded sleeve inside has carried my laptop all year every day with no damage. The large pocket on the back is perfect for quickly stashing away papers or a bunch of folders. There are a bunch of different pockets inside which have worked great for organizing things like pens, pencils, highlighters, calculators, etc. The water bottle pocket works great for a water bottle, but also for whiteboard markers so they are quick and easy to get to. ,,,,The best part is how it has held up. After a year of daily use it is in as good condition as the day I got it. I walk to work, often in the rain and snow, and it has kept everything inside dry and protected. The pad on the shoulder strap is very comfortable and slides along the strap if you spin the bag from your back to your front to grab something.

Water-Resistant Laptop, Carry-On, and all things Bag!I purchased this bag because I wanted something to carry my lunch and supplies during my 1 mile walk to/from work each day in Chicago. I find that the adjustable strap allows me to have the bag sit in a variety of ways adjusted for comfort. I use this bag for work, weekend trips, carry-on, and even grocery trips!,,,,Pros: "Iron Clad Warranty". DWR (highly-water-resident) protection over thick polyester. I've worn this bag in pouring rain and the snow and the contents inside have stayed dry! I use the reflective strips as a beacon for approaching cars as I rush across the downtown streets at night, after work. This inside pocket is HUGE. Big enough to fit my laptop, lunch and tons of other goodies. ,,,,Cons: It has the look more of a "Man Bag" than a laptop bag. Price. Because of its giant pocket I'm often tempted to over-stuff it. Because of it's single strap it can definitely feel heavy over time.,,,,Bottom Line: Make sure this is the right size for you first. Great laptop/carry-on!

The perfect laptop bagit is hard to find "the perfect bag", but for me the Patagonia Half Mass is it. This is the bag that I will be using for the foreseeable future. The laptop sleeve fits my kind of heavy Dell 15" laptop with a large/high capacity battery sticking off the back. it holds all my sweet pens, my Leatherman Wave, my lunch, my fleece or rain jacket and even more if I'd like! The main compartment is nice and big when the bottom compression straps are opened up, but when I am carrying a lighter load it smushes down nice and thin.
A couple functional and convenient highlights of this bag are 1) Upper and lower handles. These handles are often overlooked and not included on other bags, but make it easy to grab and move around in many different situations. And 2) The sides of the main compartment have an inward fold that prevents water from entering if you're caught in a downpour. The sides also scrunch up a bit when the pack is worn to keep water out. Pretty ingenious design, if you ask me.
Also the shoulder straps is super comfy under heavier loads, so load 'er up!

Solid BagI use this bag mostly for hauling stuff to and from the office. The quality seems to be pretty solid and it fits my 15 inch laptop. Over all, it is a great bag with tons of room!
