Men's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low profile, lightweight, balanced warmth The new Patagonia Capilene 4 material is thin, breathable and slightly stretchy with a grid pattern of heavier insulation (think R1 with 1/2 the pile). This is a material for layer lovers. Compared to the old Capilene 4, this trades off a moderate amount of insulation for a great level of breathability. In effect, it is less effective by itself, but makes a better base layer overall.,,,,This beanie is no exception. The design and quality is excellent, but it is best used in conjunction with a helmet or insulated hood, which allows the new style Capilene 4 to shine by providing a comfortable level of heat retention and enough circulation to wick any sweat that may build up anyways.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, toasty, versatile. I am a huge fan of the Patagonia R1. I have two. My husband has three. When we found out about the new capiline 4 (a lighter version of the R1), we each purchased one. Then my husband discovered the beanie. He gets warm quickly and can't wear heavy hats. This beanie was perfect for him; an added bonus is that it fits well under his climbing helmet. After "borrowing" his beanie several times, I decided I needed to have one of my own. On a recent hike, I was amazed at how warm this beanie was. It is lightweight but incredibly warm. You can store it anywhere and pull it out when needed. Great purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would recommend to friend that I like As a thoughtful consumer, I read myriad reviews of this hat from multiple sites across the web. The common theme among them was that this hat packs a punch for what it is. I agree. Living in Chicago, winter lasts about 8 months of the year and this hat is quite versatile for many of those months. It's not as warm as the denali beanie from northface but it's thin enough to fit in a tight jeans' pockets. It is shockingly warm for as thin as it is. Great for under helmets but also short trips in the cold down to about 15-20F or while running in even colder temps..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for cold weather activity...looks like a skullcap This hat has been great for hiking in temps in the thirties and teens. Its very thin so doesn't retain moisture and it does a good job of keeping my noggin comfortable. Due to the thinness, it looks more like a skullcap than a nice winter hat but I'll keep using it anyway since it worked well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best hat to go under my helmet I got this hat because it fits perfectly under my helmet. I absolutely love it for that reason. It is surprising warm on it's own but I bike in the winters and this is ideal for that purpose. ,,,,It is also incredibly compact and fits in my pocket like a handkerchief.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snug, Comfortable, and Warm Hadn't had a chance to test it yet, but straight out of the package I knew it is a winner. Patagonia's Cap 4 traps heat extremely well while wicking away moisture. Super soft, light, and fits snug around my head. Can't wait to use it in Utah in a few weeks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, but with great warmth This is a light piece for cool days and the warmth to weight ratio is beguiling. Could possibly be devil magic, but it's great and you will only speak in tongues a little bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Under The Old Brainbucket Very nice product. Lite weight breathable yet warm and toasty under my helmet skiing in cold conditions.
