DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. It's cute to think of a fabric as being afraid of water. Now if only they could make a bearphobic coating. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bag ever I bought this bag to serve as a "weekender" get-away bag, and it far surpassed any and all my expectations. We have ended up taking this pack on hiking trips, camping trips and beach vacations - it is so versatile. The pack itself is super durable and water resistant - through all our travels, we have barely noticed any "wear and tear". The back-pack straps make for easy toting, splitting the weight evenly across your back. We took this bag on a euro-trip, which proved to be far more convenient than our previous "hiking packs", as it un-zipps like normal luggage - not leaving you rummaging to the bottom of your bag in search of that one lonely, missing sock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get one and Enjoy durability, comfort and packability This is an amazing duff bag, I mean not only does it come it great colors and style, but I actually works. I can fit a ton of clothes, booze, gear....etc Whatever you might need on the trail or road trip to a camp site. On top of the use, It can take a beating, I have had mine for only a short few months, but in that time I have taken it rock climbing, floating, several camping excursions and even a bachelor party to Chicago, It performed in every situation with poise and grace. Do yourself a favor, ditch the old duffel, upgrade yourself and your gear

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best bags on the market Patagonia really did a great job with this bag. Keeps the weather out and gear dry. One of the best things about this bag is that the backpack straps can easily be taken off with a clip for airport conveyor belts, something NorthFace doesn't have on their bags. Also, the daisy chains on the side make it easy to strap it down to any mode of transportation. Tough bag and great look too. I have the orange and it makes it easy to spot in airports when everyone has generic looking luggage. Also, I find this bag is easier to manage carrying than it's NorthFace counterpart, because it keeps it natural shape better. The only thing I wish this bag had was a pocket to stuff the backpack straps in like my Osprey bag, but still overall a great bag that keeps the sand and rain out out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great bag - lasted through a month in the monsoon season in India Great duffel bag with plenty of room. This bag kept me company as my friend and I raced an auto-rickshaw across India during the monsoon season. It had plenty of room for all of my clothes and kept them dry in the pouring rain. Couldn't have asked for a better bag at that price. It also served well on a more normal vacation as I spent the following month traveling across Israel. I recommend this bag to anyone, and the colors make it very easy to spot at baggage claim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Near perfect duffel In 2011, we found ourselves in Alaska needing a large, heavy duty duffel and ended up buying the 120L size Black Hole. It worked so well that we added another to our collection. This past year, our son had to go to camp with a sleeping bag so we bought the 90L so that he could easily carry it. We then added another as we realized that it was a great size for not just our kids but for us. My husband and I took these duffels to Peru for a 10 day trekking trip and could pack trekking poles, gaiters, hiking boots, rain gear, hats, clothing, books, and plenty of souvenirs easily. The zippers on all of our Black Hole duffels are rugged and work smoothly, while the colors of the bags make it easy to identify our luggage. We rarely use any other luggage nowadays as we find that these duffels can handle and conform to almost any situation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from solid product and held up wonderful on hiking trip and bringing it to mount kilimanjaro! Moosejaw had the BEST price on this bag and I had to buy it (because I have the backpack already). Fast and helpful customer care and the product came and was everything and more. The size was great (you can stuff a lot in here), and it comes with straps (make it into a backpack), and the material holds up well to rain. The color is bright and fun and it holds up well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I thinks it's going to be great! Bought the bag for my husband for Christmas. I actually have the xl Northface duffel which is a little too big. I think this bags seems like it's a great size for an extended weekend away. Love the color, fabric and the shoulder straps. I think it's going to be a great bag!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light waterproof duffle I got this in purple for my 14 year old daughter to use on our Mount Kilimanjaro climb. It is a great size and very light. I think it is not quite as durable and puncture resistant as the comparable North Face bag, but it is a pound lighter and she likes the color.
