"It gets the job done but could be better."
This hat is warm and stays fit to the head just fine, there is no doubt about that. However I have found that the hat isn't exactly long enough to cover the ends of my ear lobes. An extra inch or so in length would be perfect to cover the ears and a little further down the back of the neck. The quality of the hat is impeccable and yet still stylish. Weight wise it seems mediocre to me, could be lighter but at least it isn't heavier. Overall it makes a great hat for around town not so sure it would be my choice in the mountains though.
I was in 20º temps and bought the Patagonia beanie in logo bellway - forge gray at a local shop. I'm not a fan of the gigantic lettering but the quality, fit and insulation provided is great on my head (hat size 7 1/4). I really appreciate how it fits snugly over my ears to block the cold. I liked it so much that after returning home I called Moosejaw.com and ordered another one, in fitz roy line - black.I'm very happy with my caps and, as always, it's a pleasure to buy from Moosejaw.
This is one of my go to beanies and the most comfortable one, too. Wool is great because it’s the best insulator and somehow they got it to not itch. This thing is super soft and it breathes well. I didn’t have any problems washing it as long as you lay it to dry.
This cap is super comfortable! It has multiple stitch seams across the top so it fits even around your head, not tighter in front and back than sides. It feels very soft, yet durable for outdoor use. It is large enough to pull over your head and cover your ears, not to baggy or tight like some. You wont regret this cold weather noggin warmer!
This hat has kept me pretty warm even in fierce winds. It's long enough to cover ears but doesn't look silly. I'm a girl with a kind of small head and usually hats that cover ears just look ridiculous on my tiny noggin. The wool is not itchy.
This is a fine beanie for walking between winter classes, going to work, or just hanging out. As far as actual winter outdoor pursuits, I would recommend something heavier that goes down around the ears. I've got a average/slightly larger head and this thing only pulls down halfway down my ears.
