Hubby and I are avid hikers with winter hiking experience, but not with a baby. We took her snowshoeing last year starting when she was 8 weeks, and used a regular hat that really stunk. I was always paranoid she'd be freeze an ear or two off. Bought the hat for this winter, and love it. She's now almost 13 months and we now go on 1-5 miles treks each week. The inner lining is soft, but doesn't leave fuzz everywhere. Her ears are protected, and the chin strap keeps it in place. Occasionally there is mild rotation of the hat on her head where it shifts slightly to one side or the other, but doesn't happen much and she hasn't complained yet when it does. Oh, and when she wears in town, she get tons of compliments- it's stylish and functional!
