The Patagonia Ascensionist 35L Pack is a light pack for quick one to two day trips up the mountain. The Ascensionist is durable and allows for overstuffing while still maintaining a streamlined, asymmetrical profile for climbing. Polyurethane coating on all fabrics provides additional weather resistance for gear you'd prefer to keep dry. Strap your skis in an A-frame with the side straps or use them to compress a lighter load. The tool pocket protects and secures ice axes to the outside while plenty of daisy chains provide additional lash points for more gear. The frame sheet, hipbelt pads and hipbelt are all removable, depending on your load and weight preferences. Just making speedy mountain ascents easier.

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. It's cute to think of a fabric as being afraid of water. Now if only they could make a bearphobic coating. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Light, versatile, great pricing. This thing rules my face. Super light, I've both overstuffed it and packed very light. No issues either way. Love the light framing. Extremely simple to remove and install. Can remove both hip belt and frame to go even lighter. Cinch closure system super easy. Comfortable carry. Only gripe is there needs to be somewhere for water. No outside pockets capable of carrying a nalgene. I've been putting a 2L bag in the pocket between the two lids and running a hose out attached to shoulder strap. Worked well so far. Not sure what I'll do about water when I have to cover it with a rain cover. Overall ridiculous good value on this pack. I have the 35L and maybe the best $150 I've dropped on gear.

This backpack will rock your socks. Then you can stuff every pair of sock you own into it and more!I purchased this backpack for two reasons: ,,1. I bike to school and my other packpack was way too small to carry all my junk. Here is what I put in there every day: Dell laptop (ancient and giant), Lunch (I eat a lot of food), Stanley thermos (for copious amounts of coffee), shower town (because I get stanky at the gym), toiletry items, change of clothes for school, change of clothes for yoga, headlamp, gloves, various pencils and pens. If you're not impressed by this 35L Backpack before, you should be now! ,,2. I want to eventually do some more serious ski mountaineering. This pack has ropeholding, ice tool holding, ski tipi-ing (its a word), and carabiner clipping capacities. It can carry wayyy more stuff (ie. food/layers) than my Avalung backpack. Also, its very lightweight and sits nicely on the shoulders/back. Won't give you aches and pains or throw off your balance. ,,This backpack is all-around awesome from the mountain to the classroom.
