I've tried other compact towels but this one is the best ever. It's really soft, absorbs a lot of water and dries up quickly. I find the XL is the best size for portability while still being almost as large as a regular bath towel. I have 4 of them at home and they're very durable.
Great towel for hiking, backpacking or a trip on the river. It folds up small enough to stash in your pack, about the size of a small paperback book. It dries quickly, even more so if you can remember to leave it in the sun. But watch what size you order: I have the XL and it's about the size of a bath towel, I have just enough space to wrap it around my body once.
I'm a fan of these Packtowls. Much can be said of the merits of carrying a towel in your pack, and some can argue that these are overpriced for what they are (I tend to agree with them).Still, these towels are great. They are soft, absorb lots of water, and dry pretty quickly. The little stuff sack is nice, and clip loop is super handy for drying it on the outside of your pack as you walk.
I used the small towel which is very small in size. This was able to dry my entire body after showering and was dry within 15-20 minutes of hanging in the sun. The towel is soft and does not have a synthetic/rubbery feel to it. Great ultralight towel option.
"These towels left me unlathered and dripping wet at the Great Barrier Reef."
Here's the story: I purchased this piece of cut and hemmed ultra-suede material (we'll call it a towel for the sake of this review) for a long trip abroad to Australia. The place I was staying did not supply towels and packing a full-sized towel from home took up too much space, so I was on my own. Here's the bottom-line: had I not borrowed a hand towel from the Holiday Inn prior to setting off on my adventure (don't tell), I would have been wringing wet throughout my trip. This washbloth (personal towel) could not hold soap and would not lather. Actually, I started to use clean sox as my washcoths, something I recommend in a pinch. These "towels" are squares of ultra-suede fitted with a loop. I just returned from my trip and my intention is to return them. I would not recommend this product to anyone whom I liked.
These things pack up to about the size of a tea towel, which is perfect for backpacking or even car camping. They do not get weighed down with moisture either so they will not get everything wet when stowed away.Nothing in my pack saves as much space as this little necessity.
This is one of a series of these towels I've owned. I love them. Great for camping/hiking/mountaineering, but also used daily in my swim bag. The size to absorption ratio cannot be beat, my go to towel.
"Great Absorbency in Highly Packable Towel"
I got this towel after being unhappy with the texture of my MSR Ultralight one, and I must say it's a vast improvement in terms of feel. (It weighs a little more, but it's all really negligible.) Does a good job of getting you dry. The only warning I have is to pay attention to sizes. I got this towel in a large, and it's not very large.
Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls, if you are traveling any great distance or for any significant length of time, this is a must have item. My wife and I spent just under 2 months backpacking around Europe, and we each purchased one of these towels, they were outstanding! They are light, don't take up much space, and dry fast. I recommend them all the time!
