"huge brim, adjustable fit" 12/27/12
OR is always the best for hats and this is no different! Huge wide brim, and there's a toggle to adjust the snugness around your head. The sand color is really a light khaki color, although on my screen it had appeared a bit more like a cream or light canvas color. It's lightweight and water beads up on it, so it will be decent in the rain as well. The vibe is more practical than glam, but still cute with a swimsuit (or so I tell myself).
"Full Coverage" 09/25/12
This hat provides full coverage. Used for kayaking and hiking and the hat provided constant shade and light rain protection. To provide full coverage, the hat brim is very large. When worn in urban areas, sometimes the wide brim was too big in very crowded situations. A quality hat.
"SHADY!" 01/21/11
I really like this hat - bought it for field camp in the summer! It has full coverage, a wide brim and a nice chin strap for security. The material is awesome and it is so lightweight! It also has an element of style- something that is missing in most geology hats!
"LOVE THIS HAT!" 08/11/08
You know, I'm not a hat girl- I strongly believe in sunblock and skipping the hat HOWEVER this hat is AWESOME!!!! I'm going kayaking next week just to wear it out on the lake!!! I bought the blue one and it looks awesome with blue eyes! lol It's comfortable and non invasive but gets the job done with out looking like a dork! Moosejaw has made me a hat convert!
"Made in the shade." 07/31/07
I love this hat, great for canoeing, gardening, beach. Be careful on breezy days to keep the chin straped sinched, the hat can become a sail and fly away. It does leave funny tan lines on your shoulders and back if your at the beach.
"Great sun protection for nonwindy outdoor escapades on the water" 10/24/06
Great for sun protection. I wore this hat while rowing/instructing on the scorching CO and UT desert rivers and enjoyed staying cool and NOT completely fried by the sun. The hat also repells rain well.

Downfall: Wind gusts tend to immediately remove the hat from your head. Cinching the drawstring helped, but usually I had to take off the sombrero.
