HALF water resistantBe sure to fully read the product description. Uncoated packcloth upper section means just that, a thin (probably breatheable) upper section with a water resistant part near the boot. I wanted these for snowshoeing, but they don't quite work. They would be really good for hiking in milder weather.

they cover the lower legGaiters tend to be useless unless they go up to the knee. These are functional and work. I did have to teach my husband and teenage daughters how to wear them, and ended up putting on everyones. Gosh, they just don't make people like me anymore who hike the Tetons and Utah and think it is fun.
