I needed a new softshell and after seeing all the rave reviews about the mithril (and a good sale price) I went for it. I'm happy I did--it's comfortable, attractive, and seems to be good quality. I have yet to test it in really cold weather but I think it'll be good with a fleece under it. it's quite light but very windproof.as a side note: I'm 5'4" and 125 lbs, with pretty broad shoulders, and I got a small, though I debated a medium for layering purposes. the small works great--it has just enough room for layers but isn't so loose as to let in cold. nice.
This jacket ROCKS! It stretches... it's waterproof, light, thin, packable, warm, breathable, soft, has a nice feminine cut... and I love the Espresso color. The Mithril is a stretchy waterproof softshell with a warm fleece inside. This jacket is perfect for fall, winter, and spring hiking... and chilly summer Michigan weather. I'm 5'5" and 118# and I usually wear a small in everything but I ordered the medium so I could layer. It's fit is perfect... it looks good with our without layers under it. I can comfortably wear a Mountain Hardwear Compressor jacket under it for winter hiking... and it looks equally good with just a light fleece or sweatshirt or even just a tee shirt under it.
