"You'll look like one bad ninja" 12/12/07
This balaclava performs brilliantly. I routinely wear this while riding home from work late at night. This WindStopper frabic is great. It has kept my face warm with air temps down to -15 F. The fit is spot-on with just enough neck covering as to not impede zipping one's jacket fully. It does take some adjusting as to allow for proper breathing however, the facemask is removable, so that adds to its functionality. Finally, I pair it with OR's Alpine hat, and I have never had ANY chills on my head for face. Buy it!
"Great Product, will keep you warm, but difficult to properly adjust" 11/10/07
This product is great and is very warm. I have worn it working an outdoor Colorado night shift during the winter as a police officer. It keeps my face and head warm. The only issues I have with this product is that the velcro attachments can be difficult to get properly adjusted and if you do not have the velcro completely seated, you will have a noticable cold draft.
"Great protection & breathability!" 01/09/07
The two-part facial protectiion allows for variation of coverage depending upon conditions. When steaming up the mountainside, this is tremendously valuable. The velcro fastenings are nicely angled to allow maximum warmth retention and wind protection. I wear a size 7 5/8 hat, and this fits me. It is a little tight, but not uncomfortable. The fasteners would allow for variation in the fit as needed.
"Try before you buy" 11/27/06
Perhaps not the warmest balaclava Outdoor Research makes, but there is a lot to be said for having the windstopping and water resistance of this head gear. It takes a little bit of getting used to but generally I think it is worth the extra expense.
"You should add this to your cart immediately." 09/13/06
It's hard to express just how warm this thing will keep you. I was on 19000 ft up on Kilimanjaro at 3am, in a windstorm, with temperatures hovering at about -15F, and I was seriously considering taking the balaclava off because my head was so warm. I think NASA should give this to astronauts landing on the dark side of the moon.
"If you are faced with extreme cold this mask is worth the money!" 04/11/06
The service was excellent fast shipping. The price just fine compared to the great product. There was a good abount of diffrent masks. This mask is everything I expected to be, since in my job I work in a freezer for 10 hours a day where the temperature ranges from 10 degrees to minus 20 degrees and this mask does a really great job keeping me warm and protected from wind burn.
Thanks Alot
Juan Ramirez
"Don't get sandblasted." 03/20/06
I used this balaclava on Mt. Baker last week and it was a life-saver. With high winds blowing sharp chunks of ice at your face, you will be happy you brought along this balaclava, or maybe your girlfriend likes a sandblasted face.
