"versatile" 08/06/11
This balaclava baffles me on every trip I take; it is insulating and windproof-yet-breathable enough to keep me warm on cold, cloudy, wind-blown summits, yet it’s also comfy under much warmer conditions. This article has the highest warmth to weight ratio of anything I have.
"Awesome in the Lumberyard." 05/25/11
Another one of my Moosejaw birthday presents! I got this because I work in a Lumberyard in Northern Michigan, so needless to say this comes to my rescue on cold early mornings. The fabric is fleece and doesn't clot up with moisture like the cotton ones do. A good buy for people who spend long periods of time outside in the snow.
"Warm Balaclava for very cold weather" 04/14/10
I use this balaclava skiing when it's very cold. The hole for your nose and the breathing mesh are a big plus as they cut down (but won't eliminate) on ice buildup from breathing. Fits well under my ski helmet, though it can be a tad itchy on occasion. Works well with it pulled up over the face or pulled down so that mouth and nose are exposed, depending on the conditions
"Good, but could be better..." 04/30/09
I like the Polartec near the ears for better hearing. The fabric should be a little longer at the back of the neck. The top part of the mesh breathing vent is irritating when it rubs your nose. Overall, it's a good balaclava that would be perfect with a few minor improvements.
"WARM AND COMFORTABLE AS HELL !!" 07/21/08
I used to have another balaclava pasamontanas, as we call them made of power-stretch nice material for legs and torso interiors, but not for your head. It was a nice one, but I always felt a little discomfort in the nose-mouth area don&8217t get me wrong, ha, ha, so I decided to go for the OR Sonic which seemed to be anatomically shaped instead of being &8220flat&8221. Great decision! This not only provides great comfort but also reduces the fog effect on your goggles despite they are anti-fog they usually got partially foggy. What is more, the mesh in the mouth area enhances the breathing!
"lookz badazz" 03/01/08
material is awesome warm and comfy in minus degree windchill. workmanship is not up to par though. stitching of the nosepiece is noticeably off to the side and the mesh piece is too high that it cuts into the bottom of nose. but i guess i can live with it.
