Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm thinking you should buy this hat ,,This hat is impressive to say the least! I've had it a short 2 weeks and I can say that it fared exceptionally well during my week long trek down into the Grand Canyon.,,,,This hat takes waterproof to a new level. It even fell in the Colorado River and floated allowing me to rescue it (along with my almost bruised ego)! It handled a nice downpour on day#3 of my trek. Head stayed dry without fail!,,,,Living in AZ & the heat, I don't recommend darker colors. The hat covered my face & my ears without problems. The adjustable strap inside is perfect for adjusting the size & the velcro sides allow you to shore up the side if you don't want to wear it bucket style.,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from if you could take one hat into the woods or paddling with you... I have had and still have this hat now for over 12 years. It has been a faithful friend in the woods camping and many days paddling in my kayaks. in the rain, this hat is perfect shelter from the weather and even oh hot summer days it wicks water away from your brow and provides great shelter from the sun. its low maintenance and has a unique headband adjuster that is so slick I don't know why other manufacturers never thought of it... Add a chin strap and you won't lose this hat, even in 35mph open water winter blasts! best hat I have ever had and I have had a bunch of them... like a really good girlfriend, once you get past the plain jane looks, shes a real beauty...B

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Won't Leave Home Without It I have owned a version of this hat for over 15 years and it has made every single backpacking trip I have been on. Vital rain protection, will never water log. I've held it over tinder to start a fire in the rain, used it as a bowl on a sandy beach in the sun and used it in every fashion you could think of. I tend to overheat, so I generally don't wear it during the hike. But its been super valuable to have in the remote campsites. If it rains, you will not want to be without this hat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Waterproof, yes, but not very breathable. I brought this hat along for a summit of the middle teton in august, came in handy when a hail storm hit. Brim kept the stones from pelting my neck and face, and my head was dry when it changed into rain. I have also worn it on summer canoe trips; I would say that it keeps the sun off great, but is very hot, and the only other reason to wear it is to fill it with water and dump on your head. Summary: ideal hat for cool rainy conditions, hence the name Seattle Sombrero.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Rain Hat This hat keeps me from having to wear my hood in all but the most torrential of downpours, which is great for visibility and hearing. I wear it hiking and fishing with regularity. In stiff winds, the chin strap is very good, though in a side wind the side of the brim can get blown up and stuck to the velcro. When it's cold, a thin beanie fits underneath and keeps my ears warm. It can be packed very small, but returns to its proper shape when pulled out of the pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This hat is amazing. This hat is amazing. The brim on the front and rear is designed in a way that channels rain off of it and away from your body. Fleecey material on inside can be hot in 100 degree weather, but otherwise its great. Another added bonus to it is that girls LOVE it. A little tip - keep it clean because it tends to start smelling after a few adventures. Don't be surprised if people start calling you Dundee or quoting the ol' Croc himself, because it happens all too often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great and it does what it's supposed to in fine fashion; what more can you ask? I've had one of these for many years, probably as long as they've been making them. My daughter borrowed my last one and I haven't the heart to ask for it back, so I'm buying another. I've found it extremely waterproof and comfortable, and the hook and loop patches on the side and brim are a welcome addition for those times when the sun breaks through. As far as I'm concerned, it's a must-have for rainy days, or if you just want a darned fine outdoor hat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get over the looks This hat performs unbelievably well in the rain and is great for keeping out the sun. I attached a tiny carabiner to it that I can strap to my pack so I can take the hat off and put it back on without digging through my rig. But if I do have to cram this thing into my pack, it takes shape again really quickly. I also like that the sides have velcro, it really helps the peripheral vision. This is a must for heavy rain or really sunny trips.
