The Salamander Gaiters by Outdoor Research. No matter if it's a drizzle or a steady downpour, these waterproof gaiters will keep feet and footwear dry on a rainy approach. The boot section is molded to conform to the shape of your footwear and reaches nearly to the toe of your boot. The sidewalls extend down the edges of boots so even in soggy bushwhacking, your feet will stay dry from the elements. While not intended for snow, these gaiters provide superior protection in rainy conditions.

"Outstanding gaiter for rainy, sunny, or snowy days on the trail" 05/24/11
I hike the High Peaks in the Adirondacks (NY). These Salamander gaiters are durable, high quality gaiters. They do an outstanding job keeping debris out of my boots in dry weather. They are not too hot on the legs because they only come up to the ankle/calf area. In the rain, they do the job I expected them to do. Tight fit around the leg and over the boot laces keeps water out. No adjustment necessary during a hike. Put them on tight, and they stay tight all day. Great buy!
"Great for the money, but not for the most extreme weather" 12/21/09
The biggest flaw of these gaiters is the size going up the leg. The best part is how far down the boot they go. That is why I really wanted them. They do a really good job staying in place covering the laces and tongue, which is where my boots always leak. I say they're not for the most extreme weather because of their size. If you don't have the right pair of pants, it is possible that snow/rain/whatever could still get down into your boots. But, like I said before, they're great for the money.
