Measuring Guide & Fit Styles

To get the most accurate measurement, use a flexible measuring tape and use the measuring guide info below.

• CHEST / BUST - measure under your arms around the fullest part of your chest.

• WAIST - measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.

• HIPS - measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.

• INSEAM - choose a pair of pants that fits you well and is true to size, hitting at the top of the foot. Measure the inseam from crotch seam to the bottom of the hem.

• GLOVES - for the circumference measure around a flat hand at the knuckles, but do NOT include the thumb. For the hand length measure your hand from the base of your palm to the end of your middle finger. Use the larger of the two measurements to select your OR glove size.

• HATS - measure around your head where the headwear would be expected to fit comfortably.

The OR fit styles detailed below are determined by intended usage and sport-specific design. All OR outerwear and apparel is categorized into one of these fit styles. You can find more info about the fit of a style in the product FEATURES or SPECIFICATIONS.

• TRIM FIT - close-cut apparel that moves with the wearer.

• STANDARD FIT - a looser fit for comfort in both technical and casual apparel.

• RELAXED FIT - baggy-cut layers designed for the wearer to move within.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish, sleek, wind-resistant, water-resistant, great design Bottom line- this soft-shell is amazing. I was surprised to find that this was not only wind-resistant, it handles water very well.,,,,Pros- Very stylish. Constantly complimented on how great it looks. The way the seems in the exterior were made adds to the look and, I'd assume, the durability.,,Waterproof/Windproof. Wasn't expecting much on the waterproofing side, since it is a soft-shell. Handles rain and moisture better than you'd believe.,,The placement of the zippers and pockets.,,,,Cons- Thin insulation. If you're looking for a really warm soft-shell, look elsewhere.,,(5'11" super-fit dude XL fits great.),,As always, Outdoor Research designs with us alpine climbers in mind!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really waterproof! I have the older version which doesn't have the chest pocket, but I believe has all the same features. I went climbing out on Mt. Lemmon and we got totally rained out, even hailing at one point. What really impressed me was the beading of the water on the jacket and it kept me dry the entire time. My pants and shoes were completely soaked by the time we reached the car, but my upper body was totally dry. The only thing I didn't like was when the jacket is fully zipped up it didn't cover my chin or mouth, the stinging spray from the hail was really noticeable then. I'm 5'8" and 150lbs btw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good price for a solid softshell This is a solid softshell. As far as I can tell, the waterproofing holds up pretty well, and the seams have all been covered (in a separate color, which adds a cool industrial look). It's also fairly durable fabric; I did enough self-arrests on sketchy terrain and don't see any scratching, tearing, pulling, or pilling. As far as the insulation, it's not very heavy, but it's not meant to be. The inside is actually extremely soft, but seeing as you wouldn't wear this against bare skin (it'd be over at least a baselayer, and probably a base + 1-2 midlayers), that doesn't actually matter that much. Also, the hood is big enough to fit a climbing helmet -- which is great -- but it would look a bit silly if you wanted to just go hooded around town. The only problem I can think of is the velcro cuffs: they're bulky and unwieldy and the velcro too easily catches on those glove liners that seem to hate Velcro (powerstretch, etc). But that's a minor issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great outer layer This jacket makes a great shell for cool days (30 degrees+). It has a light fleece lining. When paired with the right layers, it's perfect for a below 30 degree day. Blocks wind and keeps the water out. 6 feet tall/180 pounds - a large fits well and has enough room for a fleece under layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing softshell Bought one three years ago and it has been my go-to softshell for most backcountry skiing trips. Weatherproof enough, tear-resistant, great fit, very usable pockets and hood.
