Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid shell for a variety of activities I bought this jacket about a month ago as my first gore-tex shell and have taken it hiking, kayaking and snowboarding. I was pitting this shell against the Marmot Minimalist. While the Minimalist had superior fit and seemed slightly more durable, I picked the Foray due to its unbeatable features like helmet friendly hood, angel-wing movement, two-way main zipper, and my favorite - the super special "pit zips" that allow for unparalleled ventilation. I may be just using too much, but the DWR seems to be wearing off a lot faster than I thought, hence the 4-star rating. Should be no problem in the long run though as I can always reactivate/re-apply aftermarket DWR .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the hood! All the OR jackets I've used have great hoods! This matters bigtime when you're slogging through the rain! The Foray's hood is no exception; it keeps the rain off your face without being bulky (and it can still extend over my climbing helmet). I recommend this great, affordable lightweight shell. Though I've used my Foray skiing, it doesn't give the warmth and wind protection that you'd expect from a ski specific jacket. Lastly, if using for climbing, beware of sharp rock while wearing this jacket. It can rip more easily than a softshell. (OR's Ferossi hoody is more durable on the rock.) But if you're rapping in the rain or getting buffeted by the wind, the Foray will ease the discomfort!,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, versatile jacket... This is the second OR Foray jacket that I have purchased. It is outstanding in every respect. It is waterproof, wind resistant, lightweight, comfortable and packable. The hood and wrist tabs are easily adjustable and there are three sealed exterior pockets and one interior. On some of the coldest days, I only need a liner and a fleece under the jacket. If I get too warm, I can unzip the sides from the armpits through the waist. I walk/hike about 30 miles a week with my golden retriever, and aside from her, the jacket is a perfect companion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for ounce cutters, but great for everyone else This isn't the lightest jacket and doesn't pack down as well as others, but once you decide to pack the extra ounces, you will be happy with this jacket. You will stay dry, block the wind, evaporate sweat, keep from breaking the bank, etc. I feel like I did a lot of research before this purchase and even though I wanted a minimalist lightweight rain jacket, I realized I would rather carry more ounces than be wet and miserable. I am a fairly skinny guy that likes to layer. I am able to wear a wool tee, synthetic pullover, and down jacket under this jacket to fight off just below 0F temps. The length of this jacket is keeping this one from being part of my -30F windchill system. I can tighten the bottom, but it rides up and lets in the bitter cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value Very happy with the purchase. Good fit, great ventilation and roll-up hood make this jacket a winner. It is also light and flexible compared to a heavier and three times more expensive Gore-Tex Pro jacket that I use when skiing in cold weather. This jacket also makes very little noise, unlike some other gore-tex jackets, when running.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bulletproof A few friends had this jacket and we were caught out in the rain for several hours, they stayed dry and I had to have one. Great construction and waranty is bulletproof as well. Other makers have great jackets as well but kinda pricey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Bought this jacket for my son who travels around the world and wanted a light weight rain jacket that would fold up easily for travel....this is the jacket! it's everything it says it is!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lighter than expected Bought it few weeks ago. Looks great but a little longer than I think. Lighter but good to resist the wind.

Can you please advise whether the Agate colour is basically a normal red, or is it really a scarlet, crimson or maroon type red? Thanks.

Asked by: craig
HIya Craig, thanks for your question! I asked all of my office mates and they all agree that the Agate color is dark red, like currant red. The zipper is more of a "true" red. I hope this helps!

Measuring Guide & Fit Styles

To get the most accurate measurement, use a flexible measuring tape and use the measuring guide info below.

• CHEST / BUST - measure under your arms around the fullest part of your chest.

• WAIST - measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.

• HIPS - measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.

• INSEAM - choose a pair of pants that fits you well and is true to size, hitting at the top of the foot. Measure the inseam from crotch seam to the bottom of the hem.

• GLOVES - for the circumference measure around a flat hand at the knuckles, but do NOT include the thumb. For the hand length measure your hand from the base of your palm to the end of your middle finger. Use the larger of the two measurements to select your OR glove size.

• HATS - measure around your head where the headwear would be expected to fit comfortably.

The OR fit styles detailed below are determined by intended usage and sport-specific design. All OR outerwear and apparel is categorized into one of these fit styles. You can find more info about the fit of a style in the product FEATURES or SPECIFICATIONS.

• TRIM FIT - close-cut apparel that moves with the wearer.

• STANDARD FIT - a looser fit for comfort in both technical and casual apparel.

• RELAXED FIT - baggy-cut layers designed for the wearer to move within.
